Was at the game tonight, man that was fun and tense and fun and........../sigh Butler. Worst pairing ever. Sob and Butler could be shown the door. Butler made a terrible terrible pinch in the second that he had to know he shouldn't have made that led to a primo scoring chance. Then he crapped the bed on so many......ugh nvm. Obrien was terrible. I laughed at one point as he was trying to carry the puck out of the zone. Made a sweet move and got around the canuck forwcheck, only he forgot the puck.
Monhan, won't be going down to juniors. Enough said. He can grow with the team now. Man alive is he good.
MacDonald outside of those two epic saves was pretty meh tonight. I want Berra up here and stat.
Great night. I'll take a point against the canucks at this stage.

On another note, been a STH for 10 years. Because of some corporate seats, we tend to get a fair number of fans in our section rooting for the other team. In all the games I've been to, there have been two incidents in my section.
Both times it was Nuck fans. Complete utter Delta Bravos. It's not just that they are the worst fans in the league, it's that there are fans, bad fans, the occasional Oiler mullet-head, and then 200 feet of steaming, three-day-whiskey-binge-induced diarrhea, and then Nuck fans.
****ing hate them.

Bad giveaways lead to bad goals. Need to tighten up. I also thought the team looked gassed in the third period. Guys weren't moving their feet anymore.
Very happy they scored with the goalie pulled. Not used to that.
4/6 to start the year. Good enough efforts. I'll take it.

Rough night in some aspects, but still more positives than negatives considering where I thought this team would be to start the year.
3 games in and all 3 games have been fun to watch....and they've gotten points in all 3. Can't ask for much more than that.
And +/- be damned..............Monahan is going to be one hell of a player in a few years. Two-way threat with a very high hockey IQ. What an awesome pick.

Why not enjoy it while it lasts? We all know it's not realistic, but it is fun to see nonetheless. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

Actually Butler fault. What are you doing chasing the guy behind the net opening up a lane to the goal for Weise.

Was at the game tonight and the end of the third period was completely nerve racking. Not because of the score but because they had gone 55 minutes without playing cotton eyed joe and I thought that mentioned it might have jinxed it.
They never did and I think it might be retired for good. Very impressed with the modern music selection tonight, they only played ACDC twice.

Butler was partly to blame for that, but O'Brien was right in front with his man and did not tie him up at all. Chalk it up to both d-men's faults. Poor play all around.

Definitely never expected to hear La Roux or Tegan & Sara at a Flames game.

A lot more positive then negative to take but always a sting to lose to the Canucks.
Not much else that can be added that I haven't said about Backlund and Monahan already but these two are going to make a dynamite one-two punch down the middle in short order in Calgary. Monahan being the higher pedigree prospect/player isn't going to take as long as Backlund to come around and when Backlund is 26 and Monahan is 20-21 Flames are in for a treat.
Don Taylor and Garry Valk in the intermission? Thanks Sportsnet.
Line of the game - "Good one of the resume tape!" Thanks Rob Kerr.

Even the power play song was different, they didn't play "right here, right now" by Fatboy Slim in the last minute.
Those songs are so terribly cliched. They also didn't play that other stupid banjo techno song that I hate, Swamp monster or whatever.

Just got home from game. Really fun game to watch. Love the Flames this year simply because effort from most players are noticeable and the results are showing.
Too bad the holding on to the lead could be a struggle. It's bound to happen with the roster; I just hope it doesn't discourage them too much throughout the season. This could be a very good development year for the young guys if they keep themselves check mentally.
