As long as an article has proper citation it's very likely going to rival the accuracy of any other form of media. Controversial subjects like politics and religion should definitely not be taken completely at face value but again that goes for every form of media discussing them.
The people most against Wikipedia are high school students who's teachers have told them not to use them simply because it's practically cheating on how easy it is to use. Remember a lot of teachers use to have to go to libraries and beyond to research something it takes us 5 seconds to google now, so they are pretty bitter.
Usually you'd have to be pretty stupid to cite Wikipedia for anything formal, but even stupider if it's not one of your first stops to get information. It's all about using the references.
|
I still remember doing research assignments in elementary school, where you'd get a topic, say, the Solar system. Then you'd go with your parents to the library, take out whatever books they had on the solar system (and be in competition to get said books with 10 other students from school who had the same topic), read them, pick out relevant info, write down your sources, even though there was no chance in hell your teacher would ever check into them. God, kids today don't know how easy they have it.

You can't compare a cougar to a snake and what they do, two totally different animals.

No, but you *can* infer that an animal of a particular species doesn't always conform to the accepted hunting behaviour of that species.

Chimps
Their reasons for such killings have long been a source of debate among zoologists, but the aftermath of the Ngogo murders reveals an important clue. After the chimps picked off their neighbours, they eventually took over their territory. It seems that chimps kill for land.

So I watch a flames game on TV, the flames win 3-2 and I don't ask any questions....is that really worrisome?
Its the same thing. I'm seeing facts being presented by people who know way more about a case than I do. I accept it at face value and honestly, I have no personal connection to this story, so I couldn't care less about asking questions or trying to be some super sleuth figuring out some conspiracy.
Sometimes you just need to take things for face value cause there's nothing else to take.

It doesn't surprise me at all that they pick on other dolphins, and seeing as dolphins are known for having sex for pleasure rather than procreation, maybe there is motivation behind the dolphin murders that are almost emotional, like humans. As said above tough to compare animals in completely different contexts.
I'm not saying the snake couldn't have done it. I'm just saying that, as sad as it is, the parents murdering their children and trying to frame a snake seems much more likely to me.

From what I understood from one of the news reports I heard, was the snake had broke through the ceiling tiles onto the two boys. How heavy was this snake? Is there a possibility of its weight being spread across both kids chests that they could not breath, scream, move... Pinned down?
I am really curious about this whole situation.
sad story none the less.

No real news but there seems to be a bit of a step back from the first reports that a python strangled (?) two boys to the muted representation that they died of asphyxiation.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-br...e-funeral.html
Quote:
A preliminary autopsy found the boys died of asphyxiation and a criminal investigation is ongoing.
"I think the message will be passed here again today in this church that, you know, it was an accident. Let's not rush to judgment," said Comeau.
The shop owner, "Mr. Savoie, he is a human being and you know, he is suffering, he is grieving, so everyone is grieving as well for Mr. Savoie," he said.
"Let the investigation conclude itself."
...
It's believed the python made its way through the top of its enclosure and into a ventilation system before falling through the ceiling and into the living room of the apartment. The animal was 4.3 metres long and weighed about 45 kilograms.
...
The coroner's office in New Brunswick has said there will be no decision on whether to have an inquest until after legal proceedings are complete.
|
So many questions. It was in a ventilation system then fell through the ceiling... through a grate? Did the whole duct crash through? Where did it exit the ducts?
A coroner's report has been done. All they say is that the children were asphyxiated. I don't think it would be too far to report damages such as cracked ribs which may be consistent with a certain manner of snake attack.
I can't imagine we have heard the last of this.

Well it was reported in the Fox news link it was being investigated as a murder now however cowperson asked if anybody in an official position had made that statement and I can't say anybody in the media (especially Fox) can be said to be an official source. I would be willing to make a substantial bet that this is the case though.

The fox news article in the link above suggests that it is a murder investigation, but if you read the article closely, it does not provide a source for this affirmation.

Fox.com.au is not affiliated with Fox News and 21st Century Fox. It's just a Melbourne radio station.

Not weird if you consider the source.
Anyway, an Aussie station is probably further away from the facts than a local one. I do think it's a weird situation, but until there's something more substatial, I gotta believe the police and official reports. They have far more of the story than we do.
