The problems will not typically be structural but electrical. If major electrical components and infrastructure needs to be removed and replaced the time required to demolish the old and order, fabricate, delivery, install and commission the new can be weeks if not months. I would not bet on the Dome being open for business come Stampede.

Looking at our roster right now it may be a blessing in disguise if the team plays its home games somewhere else for a good chunk of next season.
They'll fit right in at Rexall.

Man this is awful. I'm praying not just for Calgary, but all of southern Alberta
I really wish I could of been to the Dome before all this happened, there is so much history I'll never get to see

I am pretty sure there is no insurance coverage in Canada for flood, only sewer back-up. The Insurance Bureau of Canada put out a statement verifying this (can't find it right now) for residences. I am pretty sure this is the same for commercial buildings.
That said, I am in the group that believes the Dome will be ready for use in a few months. Anything in the next 1-2 months will likely be cancelled or moved in my opinion.

Many here are wondering where the Flames could temporarily play next season. There would be many non NHL cities to go to such as Saskatoon, Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Portland, Oregon.
The New Orleans Hornets (now the Pelicans) of the NBA did relocate to Oklahoma City for two seasons due to Hurricane Katrina.

Unless there is structural damage (unlikely) I'm sure they play in the Dome just fine. Just going to have to do a lot of cleaning.

Use the orange doors for reference for how high the water is. I assume that row of windows above them is the regular concourse at the top of the lower bowl, how could the flooding be up to half, unless water was being pumped in?

I was talking to my brother about this earlier. With the speed and volume of the water being pushed into the dome and assuming there's really nowhere for the water to push through out the other side, it would push up into the bowl.
I'm no scientician but it has to go somehwere once its in there.

That's true, though there would be a limit (mass of water pushing in vs mass of water already in), half full seems a little extreme.
Maybe someone meant the rink is half full (i.e. half way up the glass)?
Mind you the little streaks below the "portals" high on the side, maybe that's water leaking out!

I thought row 10 was about right judging from the speed of the water being moved about there. But again, I don't have the scientific knowledge to back that up.

I don't know where the rink surface is with respect to the outside grade either, but assuming the truck parked out in the non-flood photo is about where the ice surface is, and I think that's lower than the other side, where the water would be coming from (?), it doesn't seem unreasonable.

The dome being pretty much concrete and steel. It's probably going to be fine. Perhaps some electrical work and replacing things, but I would anticipate the structure itself to be fine.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those the windows that are on the second concourse level? The two sides of "saddle" are were the seats go up into the press level (formerly 300), meaning these windows are on the end of the rink (the only place I remember seeing windows inside of the Dome).
