Agreed! Some incredible places could include Utah, Idaho (yes Idaho), Nevada (not just Vegas!), Arizona...
Even in Canada, I love the Sushwap area, Squamish is the mecca of outdoor sports, Banff/Jasper/K area... and I've never been out East, but I bet the maritimes are awesome.
Saying that, I love going international... but don't tell me your options are limited in North America. If you think they are, you are just ignorant to them.

It just appears that way because every travel bug that reads CP is going to respond to this thread.
In that way it's going to be a skewed survey.

Seen Yellowstone, seen Devil's Tower (and watched Close Encounters projected onto the wall of a cabin right underneath it), seen the Black Hills, and the Black Rock Desert, and the Finger Lakes, and the Rockies, and the Appalachians, and the West Coast and the East Coast. Yes, the landscapes in North America are fantastic and absolutely worth visiting.
But the people are all the same. And that's what makes travel for me: being exposed to different ways of thinking and different cultures, and that barely exists in North America. From Alaska to Florida to Quebec to BC, the overall culture is astonishingly monolithic. Yes, there are differences, which can seem astonishing, but that's only because the differences are so small, they stand out when compared to the overall sameness.
If your thing is landscapes and natural beauty, North America is a phenomenal place to travel. If your thing is human culture, there's only really five places you need to visit in North America and you have a damn near perfect grasp of the whole thing.

If you mean they mostly have two legs and two arms then I agree, outside of that I'd have to disagree.
The average Californian, vs average Floridian, vs average Kentuckian, vs BCer, vs Albertan, vs Saskatchewanite, vs Torontonian, Vs Halifaxer vs... (I could go on and on) are not the same.
There are definate local feels to almost any region, and if you can't pick up on that then I feel sorry for you and your travels. You can't look at the same big box stores and identical strip malls and say that the places are all the same. you need to look into the local cafe's, local hang outs, local weekend entertainment (sports, bars, parks ...) and you will be amaised at the diversity that you will find accross suprising close localities.

Results
Thanks to you all who participated in this! It was greatly appreciated and I apologize for anyone who is interested for not posting the results sooner.
In case you were wondering-
My kid asked this question on 5 Canadian based message boards, Calgarypuck being the only hockey message board. The others were general news message boards/political boards. I also had a friend of mine who is a Prof at U of Windsor give the question to one of his classes. Altogether my kid had 767 answers from the Canadian targeted groups.
Also, hundreds of students received the question at KU and then my kid posed the question to 7 political message boards targeting US political groups and news groups. We thought that we'd have a hell of a lot more responses from the Americans simply because we targeted what we thought were a much bigger group of people. Altogether he had 334 answers from the American targeted groups, even though the students at KU received the question to do as extra credit for a geography class. Go figure.
So- of the 767 'Canadian answers,' the average number of countries visited was a whopping 15! The average number of States was 5. We didn't count the provinces, sorry.
Of the 334 'American answers,' the average number of countries visited was 3. The average number of States was 11.
We didn't include the (assumed) country of residence as a 'visited' country.
Of course this isn't any sort of scientific data and there are no facts or generalities or empirical evidence, blah blah- but it was fun learning about some places that we didn't even know existed. Again, I appreciate all of your help, it was a fun project to do. Thanks CP!

So, Canadians out travel Americans five to one. Nice. And not surprising.
However, the demographics of the countries' residents surveyed would impact the results.
