Seems the press conferences are heating up, too. Should be a dandy tonight.

Exact words by Prust about MacLean:
We don't really care about what that big eyed fat walrus has to say.
Therrien is going off on MacLean right now for a lack of respect for Eller and the rules of hitting to head in today's game.
Marc Antoine Godin @MAGodin
Prust: I trust the league - well, trust is a big word - I hope the league suspends (Gryba). Actually no. I hope he doesn't get suspended.
Eller, Pacioretty, and Gionta all not playing tonight, apparently. Big losses.

Brutal stuff there.
Look, I get that they are angry a teammate got clobbered in the fashion that Eller did. I understand there is emotion and they have to get right back to the ice tonight...but calling maclean names like that ( who i thought was more than fair in his assement of things when describing "player 61" and the initial pass) and then indirectly threatening retribution on Gryba?
This is approaching bertuzzi/Canucks territory, and I hope the NHL absolutely throttles this with heavy warnings and possible fines/suspensions.
And i am a huge Prust fan.
Oh and Therrien needs to shut his yap and worry about getting his players focussed on playing hockey tonight or they will find themselves in a hole so big they wont be able to get out of it.

Based on your last two posts I sense that you think I'm an idiot. There is really no point in discussing this anymore, I've explained my position as best as I can and you seem to be heading down a road I don't feel like taking.

I used to be a big Prust fan. Now I think he's firmly entrenched himself as one of the least classy loser players in the NHL. I don't know what his deal is, but for the last while he's gone out of his way to be a dbag.

Yeah, I like Prust, but the very first thing I thought of when I read that was the Canucks' threats.
If he does anything, he's going to get the book thrown at him.

What? Dude you are way too sensitive. All I've done is explained why your position isn't reasonable.

I disagree. Force is force. The hard shoulder pad only made it softer on Gryba's shoulder. That's a large amount of force going through the head plus whiplash.
I think a tighter helmet would've helped

Right. Cracking someone's skull and leaving them bleeding on a stretcher deserves no penalty or suspension, but talking about it to the media afterwards should be punished severely.
Frankly, I'm tired of Montreal always playing the victim. Teams have been taking liberties with the Habs ever since I started watching them, and the attitude of "Let the league handle it" HAS NOT WORKED. It's high time the Habs began taking justice into their own hands, because it's clear nobody else cares to do so. I'm not saying I want someone to pull a Bertuzzi or take a baseball swing at someone's head, but I also don't want to see anyone pass up the opportunity to lay a hit on a Sen for the remainder of the series.

I think this is a pretty common thought, but it's also incredibly inaccurate.
Looking at that I'd say the Lucic is the only guy that appears to have large shoulder caps on his pads. I've worn pads similar to most of those other ones and while they have plastic shoulder caps they aren't outrageous. I currently wear the pads that Thornton and Chara have on and think they'd be suitable for most players, but then again I'm not playing a league where I take huge hits.

A) no one outside of Montreal thinks that is suspendable. Your emotion is clouding your judgement.
B) Inciting retribution should be at least punishable
C) Has fans DO play the victim. You're right. That's why other fans dislike them so much. That's not justified most of the time either
Edit: And Come on man, the ice broke open his head, not the hit

Take your goggles off. No, there should be no penalty or suspension for a clean hit in a sport that allows clean hits. You have a problem with the rules? Tke it up with the competition committee, but I guarentee you once the emotions subside out of this you wont find a single NHL coach, player, GM or whomever that wants those kind of hits taken out of the game.
As for fines/suspensions for talking to the media afterwards...yes when you are threatening the same sort of result ahead of time, you better damn well be reprimanded in some way or the entire league could fall into chaos. Do YOU want to see a repeat of the Bertuzzi/Moore embarassment?

LOL...yes, those poor Montreal "victims"!!
You want the Habs to get even with the Sens?
Go and beat them on the scoreboard...what a concept eh?
Clearly you have no rational grasp on this stuff as the emotions of it all have you consumed.
Clean hits are clean hits...even when they happen to "your" guy.

MacLean is a beauty of a coach. Calls it as he sees it. Doesn't beat around the bush.
Habs fans are approaching Canuck fan territory with their arrogance.
