I was going to say that too. It probably scared him more than anything. We all have to remember his age, and he's probably somewhat nervous still. I think he looks great on the ice. None of these kids will be perfect but they are refreshing to watch.

Except it wasn't. He skated into a stick that was too high (warranted a penalty) and it barely caught him before he snapped back.

I just don't see how, in any way, it necessitated the kind of reaction it got. He sold it.

Anyway, moving on.

Yup, blade of the stick hitting flesh is going to sting. Hard to tell if you're bleeding. All he did was pull up and touch his neck; hardly embellishment. It's not like he flopped to the ground and writhed around like Cristiano Ronaldo.

Based on experience. A puck or stick to the chops feels like a puck or stick to the chops. Same goes for nose, forehead, cheek etc.

Anything to the eye area or throat feels weird. For lack of a better word.

I'm a pretty big sissy though.

It's an involuntary reaction. Pain to the area above the shoulders makes your body flinch. I think we can give him a break for being human.

I should clarify that I wasn't trying to slight him or imply that he sucked. Getting a good scoring chance in your first game when you're looking like yer caught in the headlights can be conceived as a positive sign we might have something with this guy.

Close your eyes and say my name and I'll take you far away. To a place where you and I can be.. without everyone to say, na na na na na na.. and I'll take you far away.
