Love that Max scored his first NHL goal tonight. Congrats.
He looked good when I had seen him on my trip last month. Oddly enough, only forwards were out for their PP in the 2 games I'd seen, so his passing looked better than his shot. Perhaps he could replace someone as a QB? Probably not at the NHL level, but who knows?

So actually I do hope we sign a UFA or 2 or bring someone in via trade. That said I think Tanguay needs to be moved out and maybe Stajan. I see Cammy being moved at the deadline next year to make another spot for a young player and freeing up his $6 mil. If I were Feaster I'd target Clarkson for the 3rd line. I might also target Bozak and he and Backlund can center the top 2 lines. That move would depend on who I drafted (were I the GM) and if I think they are ready.
If I were feaster I would target, bozak and Horton. Maybe a third liner like nystrom. But as for clarkson, I would pass. He Will be 30 and would be asking for a 5 year 5+ mill per year. No thanks. I would add a type like him though if this squad was sitting in 8th right now, missing a little toughness to go on a deep run.

So will one of his years of his ELC be burnt if he plays more than 9 games?

No. It was already burned when the season started.

You only get any contract slide if you're under 20 and returned to your junior team.

This year it's 5, and it's already counted because he has played more that that many games in the AHL.

I was impressed with his play, missed once going for top corner but scored at the same spot the next time. The kid seems to have a nose for the net, he might actually fair much better as a goal scorer at the NHL level. His goal totals for the Heat are not great but looking at his time with Kootenay Ice the kid can score goals. I can see him growing into a consistent hard working leader on the team.

When I watch Max on the ice and aslo follow his career, I keep thinking of another Kooteney Ice alumni in Jarret Stoll, a solid 3rd line centre, who is very good defensively, good on the draw, but also has very good offensive skills; however not a big point producer. Max and Stoll both also have very good slap shots, and I can see Max sometimes in the future playing the point for the Flames like Stoll has occasionally done in his career.

You win with guys like these (Stoll has been to two finals and won once).

For what it's worth I actually see Reinhart's story much differently. He just made the jump from junior this year and landed on a lockout-crowded AHL roster. He started with a limited role there with vastly less ice time than he's even been getting on the Flames now. He stepped a lot up to become really good in the AHL when he earned the call-up, which is hidden by the slow start when you look at his AHL stats for the year.

Looks like he had one healthy season, 78 games for Omaha in 05-06. He only played in 12 the next season, and then in 07-08 he stared in Quad Cities but joined the Flames for most of the season.
