Keep calm and carry on. That's the last I'll say in this thread. Too much drama for something that Kypreos pulled out of his ass. He makes dumb statements pretty much weekly and nothing ever comes of them.

Screw you Kipper! You're the only reason we didn't pick first overall for 7 years straight! Selfish Kipper doing what's best for his family.
How can anyone be mad at Kipper?

The odds are he is probably going to call it a career at the end of the year anyway (which would probably make more teams want him). If he's under contract and is traded and doesn't report to the other team, that's nothing more than quitter. Now is the time the Flames need him the most, he would do more good for this team if he played on another team and for him to just turn his back on this team is just dishonest. If it's true, I don't know how anyone could still think positive of him.

It is putting family first rather than moving he is ready to walk away from the $1.5M on his deal. Not ideal for a flames fan but I still think positively of him and do not want to fault him for putting his family over work at this stage. I still think he is in the NHL for 2-3 years and he might be moved at the draft. I get why you are mad but if I was financially stable and ending my career and my work asked me to relocate I would probably decline if it wasn't the right move for my family

Wouldn't you say guy #1 has fulfilled his contract more than guy #2. Wouldn't you say that guy #1 has earned some kind of reward? Kipper has been a consumate professional his whole career and has earned the right to have some kind of reward. There are different aspects in terms of "fulfilling a contract" and Kipper has.

Funny you should bring this up. I own a contracting company and this does happen in the real world, a lot. Having a great work ethic only means that the owner is getting more for his money and that you'll probably never be out of work. Being someone who slacks off and complains means that you probably won't have a long career. Having a contract means it should be honoured either way. Now if the guy with a good work ethic all of a sudden says that he's holding out for more money or things that aren't in his contract, isn't that a bad thing? You can't say "I've honoured my contract so far, so I want more". I'm not going to use that phrase "by your logic" like you did because I don't want to assume you'd think this way but by condoning Kippers actions (if true) you're saying that anyone can negate a trade if they're willing to retire to avoid it. If an owner tried to do something like this to a player, the NHLPA would jump down their throat (just like the union would have sued me if I would have fired a guy under contract before his contract was up) but if a player does it to a team, he's somehow earned that right?

You're talking yourself in circles. There is absolutely nothing in Kiprusoff's contract that says he's not allowed to retire whenever he chooses. If he chooses at the end of this year or next, or this year immediately after being traded, he 100% has that right. There's nothing in his contract that states he absolutely has to play to the end of his contract.
If Ovechkin said if you trade me, I'll go back to Russia, he also has that right. He just has to bare in mind that it will be the last dollar he earns from the NHL. If Kipper has decided he'd rather stop getting paid, than being traded, that's his call.

Extend Kipper for 3-4 seasons, slowly bring on Ramo/McDonald as the back up...goalies issues solved for the next 5 years.

No issues from me if they do this. By the time he's actually ready to retire, Some other prospect will be ready, be it Gilles or whomever.

OMG...Why do so many want to run Kipper out of town? The guy loves playing for this team, this city, all of the fans (Yeah...that's us). Geez....its not like he is a liability. If anything he is often the best player on the ice.

I agree any player can retire at any given time, they have that right. But to say "if you're going to trade me, I'm going to retire" is pretty under handed. If he wants to retire, than do so.
If he were to retire tonight, I'd be fine with it. If he were to be told he was traded and than say "well I'm going to retire INSTEAD of being traded" that isn't right.
He can retire, but being traded to another team shouldn't be the reason for his retirement. If he had said he was going to retire at the end of the year but now he's going to retire because he isn't getting his way, it's a totaly different story.

37-40 year old kipper logically won't play more than 65 games a year. MacDonald/Ramo types are what the team needed for all the years we stuck with Mc#####up for no real reason.

I don't think it's that we want him run out of time, but that he's threatening retirement after his Nmc expired. It rubs some people the wrong way, and justifiably so.

Not surprising.
He's not a very good goalie anymore. He signed a back-diving contract and his final season (2013/2014) pays him 1.5M.
I'll be surprised if Kipper plays in the NHL next season.
