If the Flames aren't going to use him and since he has a one year deal and might bolt back, they should look at seeing if any teams are interested and flip him.

Bet you could easily get a 4th or 5th round pick for him from a team fighting for division or a playoff spot. Low risk and you get a guy capable of putting up some points and maybe improving on that. Maybe Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto. Detroit in the west.

Just random thoughts.

Does he really have any trade value? He is uber soft, not what most teams want for a playoff push. He does not speak english, so the team trading for him has to have a player on their team to do translation. What happens if the Czech player on the other team does not want to be a translator? That player might have enough on his plate already and want to just focus on his own game. Then there is the blood clot issue. Could be tough to trade him.

Dallas could take him, under Jagr's wing, why not?

I hope he goes back to Europe, its just not working out with the Flames. If he had a full training camp and was healthy from the beginning he may have had a shot but so far he looks superlost defensively and has zero physical presence. I wouldnt mind keeping him if he was somewhat close to a point a game but 8 points in 20 games isnt exactly lighting it up. Not worth having him on the ice, our problem isn't so much scoring goals but keeping them out of our own net.

I think they'd be willing to give up a pretty good draft pick. I'd pull the trigger and I can't imagine that the Stars wouldn't be interested.

Wow did not even think of that. Probably the best spot, maybe only spot, for Cervenka would be on a team with Jagr. Make the call Feaster.

might as much as get a 3rd rounder from him, if Dallas wants him, I'm sure Jagr wouldn't mind, he ain't really helping this team, so I'd take every offer seriously.

He probably does, a lot of teams were interested before and I bet they view his lack of huge success as still adjusting and him being on the Flames, the team that seemingly mess everything up.

If Jukka Hentunen can return a draft pick...

If he got so many takers, I'm shocked Dallas wasn't one, because I'm sure he would have picked Jagr of the bunch, no?

Jagr was not on Dallas when Cervenka signed. He was a UFA with no home. If he was i bet Cervenka would have considered it.

Ah, alright, I imagined Jagr signed with Dallas pretty fast after the last season, but I imagined wrong!

I would like to see Cervenka when he's in shape. Maybe he can seriously work on that in the off season and be good to go when training camp comes around. The Flames shouldn't count on him as a center for next season, though.

I don't think he'll be here next season anyway, nor do I think he should be here. If they could trade him to the wings or stars for a pick, I think they should take it. Instead, they'll probably end up trading a pick away for a guy like him instead.

Inflated expectations of Cervenka being a top line center is really what did him in.

If he had been hyped up as a skilled euro who will probably play 15 minutes a night on the wing we wouldn't be having this discussion of whether or not he comes back next season.

One thing is for sure, if he comes back he'll be signing a contract with a cap hit of about 1-1.5M not this crazy 3+M hit he has right now.

Cervenka is an excellent player, and is simply being misused by Hartley.
He's not perfect by any means. But he's not a player that should be sitting in the pressbox on a non-playoff team.

I think he should be playing more, but I wouldn't go as far as to say he's an "excellent" player being misused.
He's soft, it really showed in the California games, came out of shape and has a lot of adjusting to do to understand the NHL game.
I'd like to see him back next season with more understanding of the NHL game and in NHL shape, not KHL shape hindered by an injury.

Really frustrating how they have been using him. Would rather they just not have brought him over, he hasn't been put in a position to succeed at all. When he did get time with Hudler and Iginla he looked good and the team looked good.

I wish him luck in Europe next year

It all depends on how bad he wants to be in the NHL. I think he could easily go back to the KHL and make more money than here. All he has warranted here is a 1 mill 1 yr contract at this point.

Cervenka: Here in Russia centers are supposed to skate back and help their defensemen. We don’t do this in Czech Republic. I didn’t play defense over there. I like it better here because I play on the left wing and there’s no problem.

Not a joke, but a poor translation (it was originally a russian-language interview with Jagr translating Cervenka's czech into russian and adding his own comments in russian, can be found here http://www.peoples.ru/sport/hockey/roman_cervenka/). What Jagr said is that Cervenka "didn't have any luck" or didn't work out or, simply put, failed as center in KHL.

I feel Calgary is "Nigel Dawes"ing him. He is putting up decent numbers for the ice-time and oppurtunity he has. But still finds himself in the press-box too often
