I regret taking accutane in my early 20's. My skin still sucks and it messed up my digestive system.

I regret not going from Chatham Ontario to Windsor with my best friend Carrie. She was killed in a car accident when I was 23 years old and I feel like if I'd been there in the car with her, she would still be alive. That's my biggest regret. Any other mistakes I've made, I can live with, but that one will haunt me forever.

You would probably be dead too, what good would that do anybody? There is no point in feeling guilty over things out of your control. We are all glad you were not in that car.

Wow, I didn't know people were having problems from Accutane. I took it when I was 18 and it worked great, never had any problems because of it. Cleared my acne right up in 6 months, and it had been bad for years.

I regret not doing ten years ago what I'm doing right now and moving out west to pursue a career in the game industry. I try to think about the positive experiences that I would have missed out on or wouldn't be the same had done it back then though.

I've never really been the type of person who looks back on life and regrets the things I have/haven't done. Each of those events was a life learning lesson which gives me the knowledge to make the right choice in the future. I guess if I had to pick something it would have been the copious amounts of drugs that I did when I was younger, but even that phase gave me a whole lot more knowledge and experience which I would not have gained elsewhere.

I've had a good solid career since I was 21 years old. I've finished school during that time and have a strong stable foundation to do the things I want in my life. I've been able to travel all over the world and see places that I never thought I would ever see. I am still single at the age of 28, but at the same time I'm the last person on earth who will have the attitude of ''regreting being single'' as it has allowed me to do things in my life that I was unable to do when I was in a relationship.

So regret is not something I live by. Life is too short to worry about what could/should have been.

I regret not finishing my novel that lays half-written in a spiral notebook wedged inside a binder of notes for the last 6 years.

I regret not cutting down on my drug use sooner, the result of which has been a steady upswing in every facet of my life for the last 8 years.

I regret blindly committing myself to every relationship I had before I met my wife, because it was always to terrible people with poor intentions.

I regret not starting an Old Man Cover Band sooner, because playing original music can be terribly depressing, even if you are "successful", because your chances of reaching a level of sustainable success are almost non-existent.

I wonder if that is why my hangovers are so bad.

Holy crap, I got interested after reading this and that drug was heavily destructive in terms of side effects.

It basically sounds like it destroys your digestive system, beyond causing miscarriages and birth defects

Woman of Child bearing age were required to enroll in a pregnancy prevention program if they decide to take it.

there are over 7000 lawsuits in action against it.

Basically you would have less side effects by taking a bath in toxic waste and probably get super powers to boot.

It seemed to work for me without long term side effects. At the time, it gave me really dry skin, lips and scalp.

Unfortunately, Accutane is linked to a series of serious side effects, including inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s disease, liver damage, depression, miscarriage and birth defects if taken during pregnancy.

It's still often prescribed. Essentially, it's very high dose vitamin A.

While its side effects can be serious, it still has use. Liver failure is quite rare, and birth defects are prevented by birth control and making that point very clear to the patient. The number of lawsuits is a poor way of deciding on how "bad" of a drug it is.

Having said all that, clinicians always weigh risk vs benefit (or should anyways) when making these decisions. It should only be reserved for serious nodular acne off all other methods have proven ineffective. Even then, only if patient suffers from their acne, ie. depression.

I took Accutane when I was younger and I didn't have any side effects. I didn't know (or forgot) about potential liver damage. I definitely remember the packaging having very obvious pregnancy warnings on it. That's awful that people had long term damage from it. I certainly don't regret it as I would probably look like Edward James Olmos if I hadn't.
