Can't believe I haven't seen it mentioned yet, maybe I missed it. Maybe Feaster has a deal in place for kipper.... Just saying its a possibility. Likely not this early in the season yet.

I am loving the Flames this season. Seriously, thank god they actually forecheck and play aggressive and look like the give a rats ass more often than not. Not only is the game- I AM SURE- more interesting for them to play, it's a whole hell of a lot more interesting to watch.
To put this frankly, I am not sure how much longer I would have cared, be it any care at all, if the Flames continued to mope around for the next couple years, floating their asses up and down the ice, treating it like a job.
Iginla is backchecking, tonight he was the first guy back a few times... I thought I was looking at a mirage or I was hallucinating. Not just tonight too, so far this seems to be the new norm for him. You know what? I don't care if he ever scores again to be honest... if they can generate scoring from the other guys, and he has a new role, and he owns it, and he does it well, and he works hard unlike the last year or two, fine.
It's just a breath of fresh air, and so positive, that the Flames are finally outcompeting their competition, and trying to do so consistently. I hope they can keep this up, win or lose, more often than not. And I know that if they do, they'll be just fine, and if not, at least I can be proud to support them.
This team is like oceans better than Sutters version. A couple posters the other night were crying and pouting about "winning is everything"... well looks like you'll be disappointed more often then not, it's not like you win the cup every year... winning is fun, it isn't everything when you're playing a game.
I just want to have fun again with the Flames, it's been gone for so long, and now I feel like it's here with this team. I actually look forward to games now... not feel like I have to follow them for the sake of following them because I love the NHL.
So refreshing. Irving will be fine, too.

I wonder why it hasn't been mentioned.

I love our power play. Very dangerous.
I don't love our penalty kill. Very frightening.
Backlund, Glencross, Stempniak line is great. Love that line.
Cammalleri might be waking up. That's good news.
Giordano is getting better too. That's great news.
Brodie isn't without his rookie warts, but he looks more and more like the real deal every game.
This team is very fun to watch, and I think they just might start winning more and more games.

Why in the heck is Gios goal unassisted?
That's a real gip, Cammy and Tangs did some nice board work and both looked to handle the puck with Tangs getting it to Gio before he ripped it home.
Should have been a three assist night for Squid.

Yah, the only thing Brodie is lacking right now is experience.
The gaffs that he has had I think are a result just being a young inexperienced guy who is playing bigger minutes.
He has the talent and confidence to be a big player for us. Just needs to gain that experience.

The guy has played on large ice his whole career, of course its adjustment time he will start lighting it up around 20 game mark, he has very nice vision he will be just fine imo.

Hartley has them engaged and playing. Iggy may not be scoring a bunch yet but man, he looks good out there. Working his ass off.
Bouwmeester looks like he's been reinvented.
Amazing the difference a new coaching staff can make.

I had finally given up on Bouwmeester last year. And the first couple games this year did nothing to change my mind. The last three games however he seems a whole new (old?) person. He is using his speed to jump up into the plays consistently, he seems a lot more energized and I swear he is taking the body a few times every game now. I don't know if its Hartley, if its Wideman's currently play pushing him or he finally rembered how he played in Florida but since the Edmoton game he is looking like the defencemen we thought we were getting 3 years ago.

So much about this post.
There isn't such thing as a dynasty in the NHL anymore. And look at the sharks, they've had an 'elite level' team for years and NEVER once made the finals, even. I dunno, I just think as a fan and spectator of a game, if I can thoroughly enjoy watching my team and see them give 110% every night win or lose, I'll be pretty damn happy. And if they give that effort consistenly then hell, it's more likely than not that they're playoffs bound.

It's funny, I still do think that Brent is a good coach... but it boggles my mind how things are night and day with this squad right now. They look engaged in all 3 zones and are constantly pressuring the puck. There's a discipline that we haven't seen. There's an excitement that we haven't seen. It's shocking to me see the 180 that Bouwmeester and Stajan have done..... i'd love to know what in the world spurred that.
As a whole, solid effort. Edmonton, Colorado (outside of that 5 minute brainfart in the 3rd), Chicago and now tonight have all been good efforts. When was the last time we saw this team play 4 straight games with any type of consistency? Had to have been the Keenan years. I still think it'll be a struggle to get in the playoffs but these team looks a lot better than I expected... it's kind of nice.

Yeah. I started following the Penguins around the time Brent Sutter came into the picture. If there was ever Penguins games that conflicted with Flames games it was pretty hard to decide who to watch because what you're talking about was gone. With every Flames game I've watched this year I've found myself caring less and less about the Penguins. They're winning me back.

During the Sutter era, all you heard was how serious the team was at all times. Pack mentality, blah, blah, blah.
The last week or so, even with a less than desirable record, there has been a lot of talk about how positive and engaged this group has been. Now we're starting to see some results. Kinda reminds me of the Pens/Caps 24/7 with Bylsma really setting a positive tone with his team. I like that direction moving forward.

I knew as long as they keep playing their game, a win will come. They have been consistent and so exciting to watch. This year is going to be very fun.

I'm so happy the boys didn't get discouraged by the Blackhawks debacle. They fought their way to a win tonight, even through some horrible calls and a random goaltender switch.
3 points in the last 2 games! Hopefully they make it 5 in 3 after Columbus!
