It's Nonis and the new president
nothing will be answered outside Nonis saying how much he thanks Burke
He teared up when it happened in Vancouver

Way to make this frantic turnaround for players that much easier, Toronto. Geez, you can't wait until the end of the year?

I think the argument the poster is trying to make is that when it comes to the Flames, its unfair to comment on any rumors unless its rock solid on CP. Apparently this is not the case when concerning other teams such as the Leafs.

Burke is too dangerous to leave in a care taking role.
Nonis is the perfect caretaker for the team. Dots the Is, crosses the Ts.

Beyond hacking into Jay Feaster's or Brian Burke's email accounts, how does proof of ownership reaching their fingers into hockey ops come out?

It is much easier to believe for some that a guy like Darryl Sutter decided to go completely crazy during a 48 hour period, trading Dion, taking on some major boat anchors like Kotalik, dumping Jokinen, etc after a pretty successful last couple of seasons making generally smart, calculated trades.
Overall deivating and throwing away almost everything they worked for in their time as a GM.
Than it is to believe that someone else had a hand in making those decisions.
Up to you whether or not you believe someone was pulling strings.

I think (in their minds) it's great timing. No pressure on this season, so just use these 48 games to rebuild (without saying it) and tinker. It's a shortened season, so the fans are staying at least until 2013-14. They can't lose.
But, they don't have a good track record on good managerial decisions, so it will most likely blow up in their faces.

They just mentioned on Sportsnet that Burke was suppose to be in New York this morning but was pulled off his plane.

Late to comment on this but wow. If its true that they fired him just because he didn't want to trade for Luongo and his ridiculous contract than that organization is dumber then i thought.

RT @tsnjamesduthie: Sources say no recent incident led to Burke's firing. #New ownership did not like his "style".

TSN is reporting that it's based on a number of factors.

Typical of the chaotic way the Leafs are run - Burke finally has them still in contention for a play-off spot in January and then they go and fire him.

Nonis is a good GM, I actually think he did a better job building that Vancouver team then Burke did.
Have to think that he would be interested in Luongo too.

Burke's remaining on as a "senior adviser".
