Has anyone seen V for Vendetta yet? I just saw this yesterday and thought it was a pretty good flick. Decent action with a decent storyline. It was kind of weird having one of the main characters always wear that guy fawkes mask but you get over it. I had no idea that this was based on a comic book but to be perfectly honest it just seemed like it borrowed heavily from Orwell's 1984 (or a Macintosh commercial). Regardless it was a good movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

i for one like to leave casting to the pros.

with fans casting we wouldn't have had harisson ford as han solo, might have had christopher walken - he was a much bigger 'name' back then, and that would have been WIERD.

also for example, when i heard they were doing the first x-men movie, and they weren't using glen danzig (of misfits and danzig fame) as wolverine, i was disappointed - he played satan in prophecy 2 - but it worked out ok.

casting speculation by fans is - in my opinion a gigantic waste of time.

There was a possibility of them using Danzig for that movie? God, that would've sucked something fierce.

I saw a couple of great movies that I can recommend. One for the theatre, one for rental.

Block Party - what a fun movie. If you don't like rap music dont' let that stop you from seeing this one. The music is obviously a big part of the film but its more about the energy of the event and watching Chapelle just..well be Chapelle. Watching it knowing what happened after they filmed it (it was soon after that he wigged and went to Africa) also puts an interesting twist on the film. Chapelle almost seems to feel guilty about his new wealth and his concert is a way to pay some of that back. Anyhoo it really is a great feel good movie. See it.

Nine Lives - new on video. Similar to movies like Short Cuts, Crash, etc but the film makes no attempt to tie up the various storylines from all the characters. Rather its just a little slice of each's life. Great movie and shot in a very interesting manner with nine seperate seens all done single-cam style w/o cuts and I assume a lot of ad libbing.
