An arm, a leg, and your first born son.
Those players are at high value. I know we could pretend that Snow wouldn't mind moving Neiderreiter because he's had a bad season, but he's till only weeks older than Baertschi and has a lot of time to improve his game (And even then, Wang loves him because he keeps the actual payroll down because of sneaky ELC bonus work...about the only reason he was never sent down this year).
Not to mention Neiderreiter has questionable upside (he was the "safe pick", who could be anything from about Nystrom to a better Eric Cole, dependant on how much he improved), while Rattie has massive holes in his game (average speed, not terribly physical, and non-existant in his own end).

I like Rattie but his value has gone sky high this year, trying to get him now would be a huge mistake. Sven is already the better of the two.

Iggy to St. Louis for Stewart, Rattie and their 1st.
Of course i know it won't happen.

Not a bad deal but I would rather see if the Flames could get Tarasenko or Schwartz instead of Rattie.
I could see the Blues being a team after Iggy if they don't get past the 2nd round this year. From what I read as well Stewart is very expendable.

If Reinhart is going to be sent to the Heat, I think he should get a game with the Flames first.

With Kootenay out of the playoffs, might Reinhart get a chance on the Flames before the season's end? Would be cool to see a preview of what he can offer

If they were still in the injury situation from a couple of weeks ago, he might have, but not now. I'd expect him to get sent to Abbotsford for the end of their season.

I don't see a point in bringing Rhino up to the Flames, its not like he's going to learn anything heading into what is going to be a very negative situation.
At least he can go to Abbotsford and get some playoff action there.

I don't see the best team in the league wanting to get older and trade away their prospects. There is no need for Iginla on that team.

I keep hearing how Rattie had serious holes in his game and terrible defensive play, and I understand we want to have the better player of the two, but Rattie is still very good without Sven. He is a very good player, but naturally he is better with another great player. Sven would likely have less points without Rattie too

I think this has been brought up in other threads, but Rattie's point production increases nearly 40% when he plays with Sven, but Sven's only increases about 10% when playing with Rattie.
Sorry but I can't be arsed right now to go find the details.

No need? Iginla is still a premiere player and one of the best scoring talents of the past few generations. The Blues are offensively challenged and young, with very little actual playoff experience. They are on the opposite end of the cycle as the Flames, as they are just on the cusp of entering their prime where the Flames are rapidly fading from theirs. With his skill, experience, reputation, and leadership, Iginla is likely a player that the Blues would covet. They probably are entering a five-year window right now: a perfect time to add some high-end experience.

How do you expect that to happen, with 50 contracts?

I think they can sign him to a "AHL tryout" contract or something, doesnt count against the 50 pro, and still gets to play some games at the AHL level. Didn't the Flames just do this with one of the NCAA players they picked up?

Pretty sure his first 9 are freebies. 10th is when the ELC kicks in.

Agreed and they are loaded with good prospects and would not be blowing their future if they made a move for Iginla

He definately is. He's got great offensive potential, has a laser of a wrist shot, and can put together amazing plays (he's a natural playmaker). He's a good pick for where he was taken.
I think though that every team will see his break out year and this potential...his asking price will be high. So high that I think making a trade isn't worth the risk of bust...he's very much top 6 or will be in the AHL. He's at a point where you wish you had him, but can't risk trading for him (again, in my opinion).

The Blues are a somewhat yougn team that can afford to package some prospects for a vetarn top tier player.
