We all know (now) what he has done and nobody is going to give him a free pass on that one, but why did he do it to begin with???
If memeory serves me right his Aunt, who may or may not have been his real aunt but he claimed her, started a political movement to protest the exclusion of their tribe from Ugandas goverment, plus the usual complaints about corruption etc, when she passed on he took over and it morphed into a 'freedom fighters' group.
It is usefull to remember this all took place when Uganda was deeply unstable with the overthrow of Amin plus the ongoing Hutu Tutse troubles that to some degree spilled over. It is quite possible that it all started with more laudable aims but it has devolved into basically into a criminal gang with little political ambition.

Ya, clearly a nervous breakdown of some sort. Too much attention and/or criticism for a guy that possibly already had issues (what artsy filmmaker type doesn't??)

Judging by the video, I think he just did.

So isn't today when they are supposed to kick off their big guerilla-info campaign and post posters and flyers everywhere? Guess we'll see how devoted a following this thing had.

I actually signed up for this , but never received a "kit". I wonder why it's lacking support.
They said in Australia where the first campaign was supposed to start, 25 people showed up.

(Edit: colour change so people don't think I'm a complete moron, just a little moron for getting a kit)

... but the Facebook event page said there were going to be thousands "going". How could this happen?

I guess the whole thing did bring awareness to the issue, but this is probably a classic case of armchair activism.

What happened to all the people who were promoting this on Facebook/Twitter when it first came out?

Clearly Kony was so overwhelmed by "likes" and "retweets" that he came out of hiding & surrendered. I believe he was executed shortly after that, you know, like that time poverty was eliminated during those Live8 concerts?

Saw maybe a dozen or so spread out between Canyon Meadows & Lake Bona vista this morning. Although they kinda blend in with the "power raking/window washing/roofing" flyers anyways.

Its just laughable trying to talk to Kony 2012 "activists" they are so out of touch with reality. They call themselves "humanitarian" even though they advocate military intervention. If I see one these posters its getting ripped down!

Live8? Really? I'm assuming you mean the Live Aid concerts organized by Bob Geldof. They raised somewhere in the vicinity of 150 million pounds for famine relief in Ethiopia. Saved a few lives.

Not even close to the same thing as some lame facebook thing.

Haha, yeah I laughed at that comparison, too.

Walking from the train to Roadhouse last night we saw 1 poster. I'm curious as to who the people were who would have wasted their time putting these up when no one really cares anymore

Saw about 10-15 posters put up on the Beltline Coop today with some passionate hand written messages on it (ie "30,000 DEAD!!!!!). I guess at least one guy was out in full force.

Probably facebook users who were made fun of for thinking this would be anything more than yet another facebook slacktivism failure, who knew this thing was dead, but wanted to say to their peers "see, you were wrong, there's posters up".

Saw 2 more posters on a bus shelter in Signal hill. I doubt there was more than 50 people putting up posters in a city of more than 1 million people. Kinda funny
