What I'm curious about is if the Labatte signing was deemed priority over Fantuz and/or if the Labatte signing means there is no more money left to even make a competitive offer to Fantuz. This would all be in Drake's opinion or based on news he's got that I haven't seen yet.

As a Rider fan I would be ok with that. I think serious OL help will do more to win games than Fantuz next year. However 200K a year is way too much for a lineman.

According to DD's Facebook page Picard is a Rider. There is probably a better source out there

The guy wanted to go home. The riders knew they would have to break the bank for him to keep him. I'm pleased with the Riders signing Picard and LaBatte and I think that those two will haveplay a much larger role in the success of the team than Fantuz would have.

Fantuz at 190K per season may not be highest paid FA this week. Labatte got 170k, 180k,190k but with $22,500 in possible bonuses each year.
