And I wonder if they are final numbers. The Wildrose has had more votes in some of the nomination races we've held.

Seriously, this is ridiculous. Why are they coming in one at a time too. Even the way they display them, one candidate at a time is slow.

Meh. The instant gratification generation lacks patience. I like the slower results anyway. The last federal election was hilarious for how horror or elation (depending on which side you were on) slowly spread across the country.

Sshhh, don't tell my hubby.
I have the feed and CP screens next to one another. Just typing as they do their dramatic slow display of numbers.

There is some truth to that, and I get it. Part of my frustration is that there is no really good coverage anywhere. So while the results trickle in you're just stuck. One guy on twitter says that the candidates get stuff sooner though, and that the results are changing as they get more in....for whatever thats worth!

They are averaging 525 votes per poll. If that trend continues there will be less than 50,000 votes overall. This would be nearly 50% of the votes from the first go round last time. (if memory serves)

The system is designed such that you vote for the party, not the individual in a general election. The premier is, by definition, the leader of the party with the most seats.
|
Yea, I must be out of my effing mind thinking Democracy means all people have an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives. Not just those that paid for a membership.

True. It is surprising that given how many TV stations we have these days that nobody covered it. Not even Sun News?

Yes, you are out of your mind, because you exercised your equal say in 2008, and will have your next chance as early as this fall. Are you so naive as to believe that changing the head will change the beast? Albertans voted for a PC government. That is what they had yesterday, and that is what they will have tomorrow. This leadership vote won't change that fact.

Twitter: FYI folks, there are 83 actual ridings, plus three advance polls, which the PCs are counting separately, so there's a total of 87 #ableg
LOL, I just asked the poster.... wouldn't that be 86?

Out of curiosity, are you aware of any system anywhere in the world where the entire population gets to vote for the leader of a political party without being a member?

Yes, France is doing it right now for the Leader of the Socialist Party. You don't have to be a member of the PS to vote for who will become the leader and future Presidential Candidate of the Socialist Party.

It's not the system that controls it, its party set rules.

I just figured it was 87 based on the new alignments, didn't even think of the advance polls.
