Not to the extent of musicians like Bob Dylan or the Beatles who have maintained their traction with the younger generations. I don't know very many people at all under 30 that listen to the Stones. I could be wrong though as I'm just going off what I've observed.
Next it will be whether Dave Groehl was better in Nirvana or the Foo.
I can only assume that's a joke.

Dylan maintained traction?

Of course, once you step outside of the music scene you'll find a lot of people than just listen to whatever the radio plays and don't have a clue about the Beatles.
Clapton maybe, but I have a hard time believing nobody listens to the Stones anymore.
In reference to the bolded part, CJay doesn't do the fab 4 at 4 anymore?
If you remember when you could tell what part of Calgary people were living by the first 3 digits of their phone number. IE, 280-xxxx was somewhere around Falconridge to Pineridge, 242-xxxx was roughly somewhere around the community of Glamorgan.

Aren't they still divided like that? When I was living downtown the whole area was 294.

Only people who haven't moved or changed numbers, or only moved within one community, would have any real chance to still have those numbers. My mom worked in a Call center in the 80's so she knew all the areas by heart, so even now if I need to know roughly where a place is I ask her. I think it is right more often than not, but its not really a representative sample.

Ugh, that hurts seeing as I am going to see them tonight. Now I feel old.
Well, got to the concert and was encouraged to see a mix of people younger and older than me. Didn't feel too old. Perl Jam's members are all older thn me, so I wasn't feeling too bad. Saw Edge (now retired wrestler) there, figured, that dude is my age (he's 3+ years older in fact), plus he's retired. Still not feeling too old. Good, good.
Got floor seats, was happy that there were actual seats so nobody would be slamming around....oh that's an old person thought. By the first set break, my feet hurt and my left knee (football injury) felt like it was going to give out. Yup, feeling older. By the end of the show and walking back to my car my legs took a while to stop hurting. Yup getting old. Got home at 1:00 and then had to slep in until 8:00...going to bed a t 3:00 and getting up for work early, still drunk, used to be an easy chore. Last night I had 5 beers over about 8 hours and drove to and from a concert...I must be old, I never drove to concerts.
Walking from my car to my office this morning and my feet were crying. I feel old.

I remember that. 244-xxxx was Bankview, 286-xxxx was Bowness, 249-xxxx was Glendale.
Running into a friend when I was on a trip to Vancouver that I hadn't seen in about 15 years, and getting invited over to his house for dinner.
He looks a little bit older check
Wife is a little older and has put on marriage weight check (I remember when she had a amazing a$$)
Then his 18 year old daughter wearing daisy duke style shorts and a tight T-Shirt walks in, and you of course thing "Boing". and her dad calls her over and says "I doubt you'll remember Uncle Crunch, but he was my best friend when you were a baby." of course Crunch being used to hide my secret agenda.
And then of course you have black and white flashbacks to when she was a baby, and her mother felt good about you holding her, or the time that you were over and the damn kid puked on you, because she wanted a helicopter ride.
And Boing becomes - "Oh my god, I'm that freakin pervert fake uncle"

Yeah, sorry, don't agree, Stones are still played and known by younger generations. Even more so than The Beatles from what I've seen.
Brand new release as well:
Meh. I'll file that under why bother...

I'd say it's pretty close-Foos have done some great things and are one of the best live acts going. Nirvana was great but were cut down in their prime, if Kurt had lived, would they be as popular as Pearl Jam is right now? Would they be the new Beatles? Cobain's hatred for the industry and love of drugs could've really DE-railed him anyways.

Been there, done that too.
Awesome. All you can do is laugh like hell.
Actually, I was remembering being at the the christening of my godson which seems like yesterday and then today looking at his Facebook page where he's captain of his university rugby team and other photo's where he has these amazing babes hanging all over him.
Talked to another guy this morning. I worked on their family farm as slave labour and I have a great photo of him from one lamentable, hot, sunny, summer day where we were picking rocks out of a field by hand when he was 13 and I was still a teenager as well. He's now approaching 50. We both laughed when I brought that up.
Time does fly.
All of this is pretty funny.

Haha you are all so old, look at you arguing about Clapton and the Stones.

Yeah, but he said

He was asking about Dave Grohl specifically, not just a straight up "who's better, Nirvana or Foo Fighters?".
In that context, you'd have to say that what he's personally done as frontman of the Foo Fighters is better than what he did as the drummer in Nirvana.
Would they be the new Beatles? Cobain's hatred for the industry and love of drugs could've really DE-railed him anyways.
With or without Cobain, grudge had run its course at that time. I think the fact that Cobain died young preserved and furthered his legacy more, just like Bruce Lee.
