Should do a CP poll simple question.
Do you like listening to Bryn on 960? Yes or No
I am a No. I listen to 960 less because of him.

I listen to the Fan 960 less because of: a) no Richards in the morning and, b) Jim Rome sucks.
Bryn Griffiths doesn't factor into my listening of it or not. There is just more interesting stuff to listen to. The only times I do tune in is for a press conference, Steinberg's post game call-in show, and Peter Maher's PBP.

I used to make an effort to listen to pre-game shows or have the Fan on in the background when I was puttering about the house. I was always a big Rob Kerr fan.
Now, I only listen when Maher is on the air.

I would rather listen to Bruce Dowboy than Bryn. I don't like some of what Bruce says, but at least he sounds intelligent when he talks sports. Bryn just sounds like an Edmontonion on Calgary radio.
Hell, I would take Eric Francis ahead of Bryn - again for the same reason.

Its interesting that the focus is on the 960 personalities, because the much bigger issue for me is content- as much as i love the Flames, how on earth can people stand listening to non-stop Flames talk. I understand Jim Rome is a divisive guy, but at least there is some variety in his show. Perhaps its different for me because Im a fan of a all sports and leagues and would actually like some informed talk on things other than the NHL... Not to mention the 25-30 minutes of commercials per hour is unbearable.
If only listening to Howard Stern at the office was appropriate...

Fan960 conducts survey's all of the time in regards to content, its my understanding local listeners when asked request for more Flames content.
Commercials obviously pay the bills.

The odd part about Bryn is he seems to have strong relationships with many in the sporting world. I can't remember who was on the phone this one time, but they were reminiscing about this 10 hour drive through the Rocky's and how it was great to just talk sports. Lots of respectable people seem to respect him, so I can't figure out why he's so bad on the radio.

Yup, i understand the commercial side of things... I still hate it though.
And if thats what the listeners want, so be it. Dissecting Sutter's press scrums after a practice (for example) is more interesting to some than the NFL, college football, MLB playoffs last month, or the Penn State scandal.

Crazy part is that Brent is a master at flapping his gums and giving nothing worth talking about. He rarely issues anything more than worn out cliches that are just sound bites for the media. His comments aren't worth a ton of review.

He is probably a really nice guy that has good relationships with people (which helps in getting work), but, unfortunately for us (the listeners), he has no notable personality and is terribly uninformed when it comes to the topics at hand. It's like they walked into a Boston Pizza and hired a random middle-aged man.

Agree with many of the comments above. There have been a couple times even during interviews where Bryn implies or belabors a point which is so utterly stupid or ridiculas - I had some examples but lost them.
There have also been a couple times where he has shut pat down (and wrongly too IMO). For example, yesterday when pat was talking about Ryan Suter, Bryn completely shut him down and basically passed his comments off as irrelevant. Terrible decision.
Just doesn't have great knowledge, poor interviewer.

They're talking about Suter now, and his comments about 'a deal is going to get done' with regard to his contract situation in Nashville... Pat was making the point that you never hear guys say that, and Bryn is just 'we don't know if he's a positive guy or what' and you could just hear Pat facepalm... It was actually kinda funny, if you looked past the tragedy.

Bryn is just annoying. I used to love the afternoon show with Kerr because he had intelligent insight. Bryn dumbs things down to an unbearable level. Every time I tune in these days I regret it and will probably be tuning in a lot less in the future.

Yep, agree with the general sentiment in the thread, I've totally stopped listening to 960 in the afternoons since Bryn came on. As FDW said above, having to go from Kerr to Bryn was simply a horrid downgrade in every sense, I would be willing to wager a large majority of CP posters could provide better, more detailed insight then Griffiths does in most conversations, the guy comes across as rather dimwitted, tbqh.
They should really just hire Francis, he can be a moron and likes to play devils advocate, but at least he can form a proper argument and can provide some level of insight into what he's talking about.

Did you even read this thread before responding? Most are saying it's become unlistenable, and thus, most are listening less or have stopped altogether. How in god's name is that the goal of their radio station?

heard vanilla and bryn talk about peoples "opinions of them" today.
Really I don't have a problem with either of you personally. I bet you're both decent dudes. But great sports radio personallities you are NOT. If pat ever decides to be bart instead of millhouse, i'm down, but bryn is going to need a miracle.

Ha, I was just thinking this when I read your post. He said something this afternoon really insightful like "the Flames would really like to win this game tonight, don't you think?" to Steinberg (who politely agreed).
I was shaking my head and wondering how this guy managed to land the drive home slot...then I flipped to FM to listen to some tunes instead...
He seems like a really decent, nice guy, but just spends too much time dwelling on the obvious for my liking. I prefer to listen to someone who's a bit more insightful or even just opinionated - Bryn's just too vanilla for me.

Initially, my reaction was that Steinberg was being a snobby a-hole and didn't need to to be. But the more I listen to Bryn, the more I get how he's doing a tap dance on his four-eyed co-host's nerves.
An earlier poster nailed it -- it's like the FAN strolled into a sports pub and offered a contract to some random middle-aged man. lol
With that said, I don't mind him as a host. He's the worst possible choice to provide any sort of thought-provoking commentary, but he can go through the paces of "and tonight's save of the game, is brought to you by ..."
