ESPN ranks all NFL teams by age....
Tampa and Green Bay are the youngest
Pittburgh and Arizona are the oldest.

If the Colts are Manning-less all season they will finish last in the AFC South, unless Curtis Painter turns out to be capable (which he isn't as he's shown in the preseason), or Kerry Collins turns out to be a savior

Broken rib. Palko told to be ready to play.
Flirted with choosing KC in the survival pool but went another way thankfully.

Drafted 12th in a 12 team keeper league (snake draft). I am new to the league and didn't get any keepers (obviously). Here is my team, I think I did ok considering where I was and since most big names were gone already.
QB - Eli Manning, Kolb
RB - McFadden, Felix Jones, Addai, Fred Jackson
WR - Calvin Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Malcom Floyd, Amendola (sp), Jordy Nelson, Louis Murphy
TE - Jared Cook
D - KC
K - Cundiff
Pretty rough on D and TE but man people were taking them early...Some stupid chick took 4 TE's.
How do you think I did?

That's a shocker. Garrard isn't an elite QB but he's a decent game manager and any McCown brother is a big downgrade. It saves the Jags $9 million so it looks like a financial decision but that's going to be a hard sell in the worst football market in the league.

Well thats a double whammy for me.
Garrard was my back up QB, not a big deal. I also have MJD. Garrard was at least a respectable QB and could do some damage when teams stacked for the run. Now with McCown as QB, thats only going to be worse for him.
Dammit ><

I hope the Chiefs are making a call. Garrard certainly had his detractors, but he's easily in the 30-40 range on my list of QB's, meaning for a lot of teams he'd represent a huge upgrade at the backup QB position. Fart, there's enough unsettled situations out there where he could step in and be a better option starting.

From the sounds of it Garrad was set to make $9mil this year and didn't appear to be head and shoulders above McCown, or where Gabbert wil be when he gets some experience. So, a calculated multimillion dollar saving risk.
That said, there are a raft of teams looking for a quality NFL QB no matter the cost. I think my Seahawks should be quietly inquiring (along with Washington, Cincy, Miami and Indy).

What would be the point? They traded up in the draft to grab Gabbert.

Maybe temporarily, but what happens if/when Tebow flames out and they now lack the assets to rebuild the team properly? They'll be right back to where they started. Sounds like an Al Davis/Dan Snyder tactic.

I really don't think Weaver is so committed to Jacksonville either. He'd either move that team to LA himself or sell it to an ownership group there first chance he gets if they get a stadium going. So for that reason, I don't think the Jags are looking at Teebow.

Its Jacksonville....and its the NFL. The whole thing would be about marketing which is why the NFL is what it is already. He would sell a gazillion jerseys etc alone. Nevermind actually putting asses in the seats which Jax could use right now.
On top of all that who is to say that Tebow isnt better than Luke freakin McCown right now and Gabbert in the future? None of them is a sure thing at thi point, so it would make perfect sense to allow him to be part of that group and let them sort it out...all while cashing in on his popularity as long as he is there.
Its hardly some outrageous idea and it wouldnt be the first time a team has acquired a local boy in hopes of seeing him lead them to the promised land....doesn't mean it will happen but I wont be surprised one iota if it starts to gain some traction.

Don't know if it has been brought up, but there was an interesting debate on PTI today about it. So I thought I would post it.
No one wants Tiki Barber
Quote:
Sports Illustrated's Peter King reported Monday that Barber didn't get a single call over the weekend as teams began finalizing their rosters.
The Dolphins kicked the tires on Barber in early August but didn't sign him, opting to give since-released Larry Johnson a shot instead.
King, who wrote, "I hear he's devastated that no team gave him a chance," also talked to Lepselter, who told him: "We are flabbergasted that Tiki has not had an opportunity with any team, especially when rosters were at 90 players this year (during training camp). I certainly thought some team would be intrigued to see what he had left in the tank."

What can you say, theres a plentiful supply of younger guys to play the position. Tiki made his bed when he decided to retire at a young age, and not subject his body to anymore punishment. Likely didn't do himself too many favors with some of the criticism he gave the Giants, only to see them win the Superbowl that first year he wasn't there.
