Maybe not for a seasoned veteran like Verdasco, but for a kid like Raonic they mean the world. And honestly, if they "don't mean a thing" to a player of Verdasco's skill, he probably shouldn't be making the comments that he did.

But, hey, that's my opinion.

What comments did Verdasco make?

Well, if you don't know what comments were made then you don't know what is going on. Which makes your comments even more weak and silly than I first thought.

Wow you're the pride of the family aren't you?

We'll just wait and see how far this kid gets then if he wins a grand slam you could come around and flex your little muscles.

And the comments Raonic has made about himself, comparing himself to Sampras, are sufficient in demonstrating where this kid's head's at during this stage of his career.

This was a nice thread to read until you started trolling it with your comments. My mistake was falling for it and getting a little personal. I apologize to the other people that read this thread.

I will put spiteface on ignore and get back to talking nice about tennis.

It's been an ace clinic so far between Raonic and Roddick. So far, it's been a lot of fun to watch and Raonic is also showing he has a pretty deadly forehand.

But Roanic couldn't get the ace he needed when he had set point. Showed alot of inexperience and fatigue in that tiebreak. He just saved 2 break points in the opening game of the 2nd set so he's barely hanging on.

Wow Roanic breaks at love! Game on again!

The draw is out for Acapulco....

http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2011/807/mds.pdf

Roanic avoids a seed in the first round getting the Argentine Carlos Berlocq (ranked 73)
He's in Wavrinka's part of the draw.... nowhere near Verdasco.

I don't even mean this as a joke, but does Roddick always itch himself that much? I've watched a lot of his matches and never noticed it before.

Great fight in the kid to take it to a third set. I like the variety of shots from both players. They like to throw in some net game from time to time, breaking away from those baseline rallies.

Great tiebreak! Battling Roddick in his own backyard to a deciding 3rd set.

And yeah, Roddick is always figgity.

Roddick wins on the most incredible match point you'll ever see.

It was an amazing 3rd set... Raonic down 4-1 15-40, fights all the way back to 5-5. Match looked headed for yet another tiebreak until Roddick pulled out an amazing match winning shot.

Raonic has had a dream 2 weeks. I don't know if he has anything left for Acapulco.

He makes $122,000 and 300 points this week. He is now ranked #37 in the world and becomes the highest ranked Canadian men's singles player ever!

It was a great match for Raonic. Proved that he has the mental capacity to compete as well as the physical skills. He didn't seem tired at all today.

Just saw that he lost. Sounded like a solid match, and the kid has a great future ahead.

Comments from Roddick afterwards:

Quote:
"I think I was very fortunate. I feel like I got outplayed, I just stuck around and kept trying," Roddick said. "What a memorable 30th victory for me. I couldn't be happier to do it in Memphis."
