This morning as the sun illuminated the skies with dazzling pink clouds my wife and I were surrounded by a team of Calgary’s best doctors to help greet our child.
Hidden behind a royal blue cloth while working under numerous discs of fluorescent lights the group got to lay first eyes on our second son.
An emotional pulse cascaded through the room as we first heard his cry resonating off the walls.
On a warm autumn morning in October cloaked under the cloudy chinook skies of Southern Alberta we first met our boy Thompson.
Some days are more eventful than others.

My living room has a 3' deep niche above the fireplace which is the only place to put the big screen TV. Problem is my sound bar has to sit in front of the TV which means the TV has to sit further back and the sound bar blocks the bottom part of the screen.
I was looking at absorbing the cost of a Flexson articulating mount that incorporates the sound bar and the TV and would bring the TV out to the edge of the niche. That would have been a pretty slick set up, but it also would have been about a $1200 hit (mount and installation). Was tooling around on Amazon and found that Flexson now make a plinth-type, metal box that incorporates the sound bar and the TV sits on top with the normal stand the TV came with. Simple, effective solution for about $200. That MMH.

Mind sharing the link? I have the same issue with my TV. I have to place it all the way back in the niche so that I can fit my receiver and SS speaker on the same shelf in front of the TV. It's not an ideal setup, but I have no choice. Would love to see how this works.

about 2 months ago my aunt started treatments (chemo & radiation) for two tumors (one is in her lung and the other is above her lung close to her throat/collar bone. we are VERY close with my aunt and uncle - they are like another set of grandparents to our kids. they live outside of kamloops and have pretty much moved in with my mom while my aunt has been getting her treatments at the cancer center in kelowna.
today my aunt had a dr's appointment and the dr told her that her tumors are substantially smaller than before her treatments started. that's awesome news - so happy!!
not only is this great news for my aunt, but also for my mom. some of you know about my dad passing way from cancer last year - and that was brutal - but add to that in the last couple years my mom's older sister and youngest brother also passed away thanks to cancer - so it's really nice for my mom to get some good news about her younger sister.

After an over 8 year hiatus, a web comic I followed, Daisy Owl, popped up with a new comic today. A nice surprise. Hoping it will be a regular comic again.
