I had heard that Imperial Oil had purchased the entire block that the Herald Square is going on. With the announcement that Imperial is building a Campus at Quarry Park does anyone know who is building/occupying this site?
Thanks,

Imperial has never owned that site, it is owned and being developed by Brookfield.

Currently ATCO Structures operates in that area. They are developing a campus style complex for the structures division which would be completed in roughly 3 years. Long term you may see the entire ATCO Group move out to that area, as they have first rights to bid on the land once their lease with Canada Lands expires. If they don’t GWL, the developers of Westmount across the street, would likely take the lands to expand that development.

Does anyone know the status of the Bing Thom-designed expansion for the EPCOR Centre?

Currently in fundraising, I believe. A local consultant may be added. Bing's design came in alot higher in cost than expected.

Here is the newest rumour on the Herald Square site (being marketed as 225-Sixth), this info is apparently from someone in the know at Brookfield (the developers):
Two towers
- East tower 56 floors 247M (811Ft) making it taller than the Bow.
- West tower is 40 Floors
The design is similar to the one we've seen, but less boxy and more curvy. A large central area of glass in between the two towers.
They are very close to submitting a DP, if they haven't done so already.

I call BS.
No. Freaking. Way.
I hope so cause that would be epic but I just can't believe it.
Please jesus let it be true though. How long did Suncor/Petro Canada reign as the tallest? 20+ years? Now we get two new tallests in 5 years?

Finally a 800 footer if it becomes true! So fast to top the Bow since it's only been a year thus far?

It's looking like the real deal, now we have another source confirming that they have indeed seen the plans and believe the DP has been submitted. This is a source that is INCREDIBLY reliable.

A DP is only one step in the process, though and I don't think Brookfield would build unless they had significant tenant commitments in hand.

Agreed 100%, I was referring more to the rumoured height being true and indeed a new tallest if it comes to pass.

So, if a DP is submitted, what does that mean? How likely is it to actually happen and when could we expect to see actual construction? Is this something like a 50/50 chance of happening and 5 years off or is this a pretty firm commitment to getting underway next year?

Well Brookfield is currently demolishing the old Herald building on the site. How fast digging for the foundation starts after that is the wild card right now I guess.

Ahh. Yes, that part is interesting, I'll be more excited when we see renderings. If the new tallest building is another boring cube with a slightly smaller twin I'll be disappointed.

Not firm. Many development plans are never built.
This does seem likely to get built, but a DP in and of itself doesn't mean it'll happen. It's just another step on the path, and it's not a huge $$ commitment so it doesn't prove they're serious. Tearing down Herald Square is a bigger step, imo. It's interesting because it'll have details of their plans

So once a DP has been submitted, what does the probability of the thing actually get built look like?
Edit: beaten to the punch

The fact that Brookfield is behind this and they are only going 11m taller than the Bow suggests to me that they are serious about this one. Like they are going taller just because they can and it won't make the tower ridiculously more expensive to build (which would be the case if they were proposing something over 900').

What are the odds they build the taller tower first?
It would really suck if they decided to build the short one and then wait to built big bertha.
