We have a hard, steady rain by the University and Bowness now. I just had to pick up my kid from practice in Bowness and there are streets flooding already.

First day off all month and I get called in for a 24h shift.

All I wanted was to not have to manually water my grass seed lol

Big puddles but not at ditch rivers yet. If this keeps up we could get there though.

Forecast now says 50-75mm just this evening.

15 overnight and 15-20 in the morning. Then rain continuing all tomorrow, albeit lighter.

Sheep, Highwood and Old Man rivers will be flowing if they aren't already.

Based on the radar not too concerned about the Bow. Elbow might be interesting. May pop over and take a look west of the reservoir this evening.

If only we had used the past 9 years to build that Springbank dry dam. Oh well, who could have seen a need for it?

Maps are up. Sad to report my street is uniquely carved into the red zone on this map (neither street to the east or west is, and we weren’t on the city’s previous risk map either). Kinda strange and not ideal…

Have family in the red zones.

Hopefully this only ends up being another High River issue.

I don't think people took "High River" literally enough when they moved there. It routinely earns its name.

Good luck to you brave residents, nevertheless.

A berm was built around the town that was 3 metres higher than the flood levels of 2013. Plus the river flow is supposed to peak at between 300-400 CMS by Tuesday night. Now compare that to 2013 where the river flow was 1,830 CMS. We will be fine.

If they're just getting us all worked up for nothing and no serious flooding occurs I will be so hopping...

...fine with it. I'll be fine. I'm totally okay if they overreact to even a longshot possibility of significant flooding. I want them to do that.

So drought conditions for 2 months and then 2 months of rain in 3 days.

Makes sense nature, makes sense.

Did you guys also have the little rich neighbourhood petition against this brilliant preventative action?

Heritage Drive under Glenmore was starting to flood at 5:00pm. Barely managed the car through there. Probably shut down by now.

Didn't they build a flood wall there?
