The left lane is for passing and crime. If you’re not passing someone or doing crime then you’re the knob. Pass and move back over ya struggler

Sure, going 1 km faster than the guy he was passing. So either you see the guy coming up behind you ahead of time and move over and slow down, or you speed up a little and then move over - not to validate his speeding, but because driving in front of someone who is impatient and aggressive is more dangerous.

Why? It signals I'd like to pass. Don't take it personally.
It should take less than ten seconds to pass someone. If not you're just going slightly faster, not actively passing.

Incredible how difficult this is to understand for some folks. The only person you’re doing a favour for is yourself. Everyone should want to be as far away from dangerously aggressive drivers as possible. That seems like basic driving intelligence.
And we’re not even really talking about the fact that GGG was taking a full minute to pass someone because he was going 1km/hr faster than they were. Like there’s people here acting like this is the first time they’ve ever heard of the left lane and how it’s commonly used by 99% of society (that drive on the same side of the road).

"Keep right except to pass"
The dude getting angry behind you clearly has some anger issues to work out, but at the end of the day the left lane is for passing, not for cruising slightly faster than the middle lane. I don't think anyone is obligated to gun in to 140 to pass another car, but if it takes you a minute to pass someone, something is not right.

Because he has been multiple past banned posters. I have tried to make peace with him multiple times or agreed to not post in response to eachother but no dice. If people want to hate on me go for it, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter.

Thankfully if you’re passing someone at 110 you only have to go 115 to pass them in under 10 seconds.

To take a full minute to pass him he would need to have been waffling between 0-1km/hr “faster” than the car beside him.
That isn’t “passing.”

I've had nut cases tail me in the middle lane when I'm just trying to mind my own business. People get worse out there every day. I stay out of the left lane during rush hour almost entirely just to not get rear ended - literally every day I see either a near-miss (swerve in to the shoulder), someone get rear-ended, or one that people are out examining that's happened recently, because people follow too close and drive too fast during rush hour.

Because I know you want to pass. You are behind me and i have the depth perception to understand that you were closer now than you were before to indicate that you are moving faster than I. You don't need to flash your lights to let me know.
It's like trying to walk around slow walkers on the street shouting at them "hey move over, i am walking fast". We dont do that - maybe we should because we as humans cannot see behind us like a car - but we dont because we arent dicks. We wait to pass

That’s like the oldest thing in the book? You flash your lights when someone is dawdling along in the wrong lane to tell them to move over because it’s unsafe to pass people on the right.
Bonus fact: if you’re driving along on a road trip and see someone randomly flashing their lights as they come at you there’s a cop up ahead.

I installed a front and rear dashcam because I commute on Deerfoot everyday and have nearly been sideswiped, rear-ended, and like you I've been aggressively tailgated in the middle lane. It's like people shift into rage mode when they get into their vehicles.

I wish they'd change the rule in Alberta so that it's actually keep right except to pass on all highways.
It's "slower vehicles stay right" and the interpretations I've heard over the years... people are just making #### up as they go along to avoid doing it right.

I love driving in Europe and never had anyone flash me, because most people there know generally how fast you can go when passing someone.
If I am on QEII going 125km passing a long line of cars, and buddy comes up going a 150, don't expect me to speed up to match your speed. And yes, of course i see you, put your ####ing flashes away

It's not just "not passing", it's driving in someone's blind spot. If that car decided to switch lanes without shoulder checking, all of the sudden there's a high speed 3+ car pile-up happening. Who's in the right doesn't really matter at that point.
It's like my dad would say when I was learning to drive..."it's not you I'm worried about...but all the other idiots on the road"

Apparently in Quebec it's illegal to drive in the left lane on highways unless you're passing, and never if you're Zary's Mustache.

My working theory for Calgary traffic is that 90% of issues could be resolved if people:
1) left space for others
2) took the space available to them
