If it's "great" news, my guess is that a Canadian firm won. Bombardier?

The announcement today should include information on which model won the contact and hopefully some renderings.

According to the Herald, Siemens is expected to win the contract. I'm not sure what is so exciting. We have known for a long time that more cars were being purchased.

I know this was touched on earlier in this thread, but I can't find the post to quote it.
I had a chance to ride the #3 bus last week with, what I assume are, the new testing bucket type seats. I was really impressed with the comfort level of them, especially considering I am a bigger guy.

Does anyone else hate the new buses with the wavey doors that click and clack every 6 seconds while the bus is in motion? Most annoying commute of my life this morning hearing that for 15 straight minutes

My favourite is all the doors with the wave sensors where CT has replaced the wave instructions with "push here to open" stickers, which often gets people stuck unable to open the back door.

"BACK DOOR PLEASE! BACK DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR"
Only downside of not riding bus anymore is missing that hilarity on a daily basis when people couldn't get the door to work.

Does anyone know what the S200 looks like?
If it's anything like the S70, it could be pretty sweet:

Those are pretty sweet looking trains...much more "with it" than the current Siemens CT uses.
Still a shame we have all these high-floor trains/platforms though.

One of the possible designs. Public will have say in 3 options for the look.

Council made the right call buying 60 at lower price per unit than 50. Council had stated to buy 50 with $200m, then use any leftover for SETWAY. Last night Council approved the 60 (including Ald. Keating supporting).
Desperately needed. Now we need another order at least this big soon again to replace the dying U2s.

I wonder if CT will be too panicky to get these in the system right away that they'll forgoe the proper painting and decaling like they did with the last batch

Yeah, we were about 5 years too early for low floor. Green line will be low floor.
