Yup and Jacquemot's level is dropping. Leylah just needs to cut out the unforced errors and move her opponent around the court.

A break and Leylah is serving at 4-2 in set 2.

A shaky consolidation but it was achieved. Leylah not making many 1st serves and her service toss is all over the place tonight.

Leylah forces a 3rd and deciding set taking set 2 6-3.

Edit: A break by Leylah to start set 3.

Ok can we address the elephant in the room here?

Leylah breaks again and is serving for the match at 5-2 in set 3. Meanwhile her opponent is running on fumes and looking very frustrated.

Just gotta love the fight from Leylah, a terrible 1st set but she hung in there and the last two sets (especially set 3) were very good.

Been a bit since I watched a full Leylah match. She's just so easy to cheer for. But her success really is dependent on getting a bunch of first serves in.

This appeared to all start from Taylor not apologizing for a net cord that resulted a couple of shots later with Taylor winning the point. Sure, it's regarded as a unwritten rule in tennis to apologize for a net cord, but as we all know, it's a fake apology. You play enough tennis and the tennis gods will ensure that for all the net cords that go your way, your opponent will get net cords that fall their way.

Gotta say if I'm paying hundreds to get into Ashe, even in the earlier rounds when you're rarely getting a proper contest, and then you only get two matches in a day session it's gotta sting.

Ostapenko is the champion of sportsmanship now?

Serena never apologized for a net cord and never expected one in return. Imagine if Jelena confronted Serena and called her uneducated.

Yeah, week one, grounds ticket is the way to go. Unless you specifically want to see a particular star that day.
