I think Dallas was rather stuck with Seguin and Benn by then. I don’t think they chose to re-sign them to do a retool.

A willing to sign Lindholm actually helps Conroy on the trade front if he wants to move him.

Well... It could be a bit of both? Either his demands drop or you drive up trade offers. Flames are at the point with players that If you need to be convinced, It's time to shape up or ship out.

Hanifin and Lindholm at 50% retained should be the most valuable pieces on the market. Teams will get a number 2 Dman/top line center for 2.5m in the coming season where the cap is stagnant. And then next year when the cap raises with their new contracts. It couldn’t be more perfect for most teams. Include a cap dump coming the other way and they may actually gain some cap space to go for it this year.

If the organization is reliable in any way, it's being 3 months late to make important decisions.

If they can somehow trade Kadri away and re-sign Lindholm I'd feel a lot better about keeping him. Don't see anyone wanting Kadri though

Serious question, is there a way to get a notification when @Sec214 posts?

Thanks Sec214 and dissentowner and the other insiders for keeping us entertained.

E from Entourage at 50 years old fighting with people was something calling them ugly for not having their faces as a profiles picture.

They could pull an LA and nullify his contract for rolling though a stop sign or being a day late on a phone bill or something.

I would get the assets out of Lindholm and hold onto Kadri rather than sign Lindholm and trade Kadri for nothing (or less than nothing).

Kadri retained would also have value.
More than willing to bet that more than a few teams would be interested in him at 5.75 per year.

It’s why Big Z is so awesome. Dude has flat out stated he likes Calgary and wants to be here. I’m cool with him staying for sure - not sure why people are including him in the ‘trade’ list. Unless the return is completely something you can’t turn down, just keep him here - we still have to field a hockey team for 82 games lol - and he’s proven himself as a really effective player for us at a reasonable price.

Murray barely retains on expiring deals. No way he retains for six

|
From Pension Plan Puppets:
"The only way around this requirement that a player getting an eight-year extension cannot be an expired UFA, and they must have been on the signing team at the prior trade deadline (or signed through to the next one) is a sign and trade. The Maple Leafs could sign a valid SPC with Hyman today for eight-years and then make the trade to the team that wanted that deal done. To the best of anyone’s recollection, this has never happened in the NHL."
So all of the guys being discussed, Lindy/Hanafin/Toffolli/Backlund can sign an 8 year deal with the team they get traded towards.
