At this point, why bother?

The best player still available not named JG, is going to get a contract that almost certainly will have major anchor potential in the near future.

The rest of the options "might" help the team a little, but nowhere close to what is needed.

I think we are just going to need to be patient and ride out the storm for a few years.

His mind isn't changing I believe it's true his decision was based on his wants and his wife's, they want to raise their children close to family. It's just stupid of the agent and Johnny to show all their cards, because it wasn't a money issue it was distance from family. So really there are only two teams bidding, so the price will drop, I wouldn't be suprised I'd the offer was between 8.5 and 9 million. Just his agent trying to maximize the money coming in, doubt either Isles or New Jersey flinch with Columbus in the picture.

Default Tre should go

Tre should have realized Johnny was not signing in Calgary. We should have gotten a first rounder last year for him instead of nothing this year. He has been here 8 yrs. and we have gotten into the second round twice and lost both. We could have rebuilt the team twice during his tenure. With proper drafting and decent management actually had a contender.
