I do not expect electoral reform in any stretch or fashion. The system has been rigged to affect a particular group and with the courts stacked electoral reform is a pipe dream. Because the electoral college is part of the constitution it would require an amendment and ratification by 2/3rds of the states. That won't happen because the Republicans control a majority of the states and are not for changing anything that impacts their grip on power.

There will be 34 seats in the senate up for election in 2022, most of them are R held seats. They wont have to wait 4 years. But if the current political climate holds, hard to see what seats are flippable.

Wouldn't the quickest path to reform be to simply outlaw gerrymandering across all levels of government?

So good news bad news stuff. I just finished running a model based on available data from NBC, which appears to be consistent across other media sources, and the math looks like this.
Biden will take Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Trump will hold onto his leads in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina. There doesn't appear to be enough votes out there for Biden to catch up. Of course, these are based on statistical trends, so if a box of ballots that run way outside that trend happen to be found, that could skew the numbers. But having said all of that, it looks like Joe Biden will win 270-268, which means this is going to the courts and Donald Trump will continue as the 45th president of the United States of America.

That only works for federal and state representation in the congress. It has no bearing on presidential elections.

I suspect what we'll see going forward from the GOP is a more polished, clean version of Trump that still panders to the worst of people but doesn't sleep with pornstars or assault women. It will probably be an Evangelical version of Trump but with more personality and chutzpah than Pence.
I don't find it encouraging at all. There really are no red states or blue states but the divide is mostly urban vs. rural and educated vs. uneducated. A lot of GOP voters are single issue voters: abortion, fracking, Cuba, etc. This isn't surprising as America is, at it's heart, a nation that celebrates individualism and sees any form of collectivism as weak. The American culture is on fully display and it's clear to all that it's ####ed up!

After giving this some thought I disagree with the bolded. I think a close victory might be better for the country. A blue landslide would allow the left to dismiss the last 4 years as a "blip". A close victory for the Dems will hopefully help them see that their way isn't working. Half the country was willing to put a maniac back in the whitehouse for another 4 years rather than vote blue. Divides need to be bridged somehow, especially urban vs rural. Roll up your sleeves gentlemen.

I was with you until this. He may try, but I just don't see him winning any legal battle over legitimate ballots. I know the court is conservative, but I don't believe they will rule in his favor in a free and fair election. They still believe in the law above everything else.

Easier said than done. The states get to make that call. That means 50 states have to agree to abandon the long standing practice. Again, nothing changes. Also doesn't impact the electoral college, which is a #### show in its own right.

The failure of the democratic party to win convincingly does not fall on voters. It falls on the Democratic party. At some point they need to get in touch with what gets people excited about politics and quit the hollier than thow BS. the Trump is evil campaign is not enough. It rang hallow in 2016 it rang hollow for four years. Who cares how true it is, you need to convince people to vote FOR you, instead of against someone else.
