Really hope the flames get Glencross to expand his list. I think it's safe to say Chicago, Anaheim , and maybe Nashville are out. LA might have been on glencross list but I don't think they were ever a fit. As of now it looks like Washington and TB are the only ones left on list. Need glencross to add both NY teams.

Here is the presentation on how to analytically determine how "clutch" a player is:

http://rinkstats.com/2015/02/sloan-presentation-slides/

To summarize, the author has determined that the average NHL goal increases the chance a team will win by 17%.

He then determined how much a player's goals affected the outcome for the team.

As noted Glencross was well below the average.

Also the Player A and Player B in his presentation are actual players. Spoiler for who they are:
Spoiler!

Unfortunately most of the Flames potential dance partners have left with other boys. There's only two or three left and its not looking so good.
But, stay strong....

why are so many assuming that some of the teams who have made a deal thus far are now done for the year? Is it not entirely possible they make more than one trade?

I think we get whatever we can get for Glencross. I like him but to be honest I really don't think we are making the playoffs so lets keep building this team.

There are 7 or 8 teams that could and probably will buy still. There are only 3 or 4 options left and Glencross is the 1st or 2nd choice.

Glencross is now the top dog left and I think the flames will move him but I get the feeling Monday is when it goes down. I hooenit happens today in case the flames want to dangle some of the assets they get in return tomorrow

Yeah... I'm sure those teams are still sniffing around. It's just those pesky 1st round picks that (in some cases) aren't.

I think we need a shut down type D instead of a puck moving D. 4 of our 6 can move the puck and Diaz can as well. A big body with good mobility would be good.

A puck moving Dman is always a way better decision over a lumbering bid Dman. They are on their way out. We have Engelland and Smid as the "big shut down D" and its pretty apparent how useless that type of Dman is now.

Yeap. I have no problem with a big shut down guy, but at the very least he's got to have some mobility and the ability to make a decent break out pass.

Like Hjalmarsson or Alzner for instance.

As long as Connolly and TB are still on the list, I could care less about what the other teams have done

Another reason advanced stats are garbage. How in the world can anyone say that Kadri is superior to Duchene in any way? People really need to step away from the spreadsheets and watch the ####ing game! Good lord, it wasn't too long ago Tyler Conklin was the better goaltender than Marty Brodeur, and proven by advanced stats. Really. Watch the game and trust your eyes.

This.

I really really wish that people would just get back to watching the game and use basic BASIC stats to get into any analysis.

I said Glencross doesn't score clutch goals a while ago, and didn't need to look at advanced stats start thinking about it. I just realized that I rarely, if ever, scream 'SCOREFACE!' at clutch moments anymore.

No need to worry... we just picked up that well known stud d-man David Shlumko.
