I just realized something...The draft is going to be on Sportsnet this year, isn't it? No more awkward duthie interviews with new draftees. No more Bobby Mac, no more TSN.

Yeesh, really like the TSN Draft product. Not excited at all to see Sportsnet covering it.

I believe Bob Mckenzie and Darren Dreger are doing a draft show for NBC(?) To be aired during the draft as well. Ill likely be tuning into that show unless the Sportsnet show is just Friedman with a mic. I have ZERO interest in watching a draft show with the likes of Cox, Kypreos and McLean running the show.

Just 13 Russians drafted last year. 8 the year before, and 11 in 2012. Pretty rare for any team, let alone the Flames to draft more than 1 Russian over several years

No, he hasn't. But even if we were planning to draft a Russian he wouldn't say either way.

Svechnikov did win the CP mock draft poll by quite a few votes so many people think we will draft him.

Goes back to what I said a few pages ago. The Flames will draft the best player at 15 that meets their criteria.

^Is the mock draft intended to reflect who people WANT the Flames to draft or who they THINK the Flames will draft?

I think it's a bit of both actually. Fans see him as the best fit at that pick and he makes the most sense out of what will potentially be available at that pick for the Flames as he meets the most requirements they're seeking.

A realistic potential Flames pick?

Finally, a new profile featured at THW - War Room series continues:

NHL Draft Prospect Profile: Travis Konecny – The Professional

Here's who Joe Haggerty (beat writer for Bruins) sees the B's taking with the pick just before us.

I see the Bruins taking Jakub Zboril, Travis Konecny or Kyle Connor with that pick should all three of them be available

@HackswithHaggs: The @CSNNE Morning Skate: Should NHL go to Portland, Talbot means another goalie on trade block & Vermette works out http://t.co/5ZQOFuYzPc

Interestingly, the same link says the Bruins didn't interview Svechnikov at the combine. I think we pretty much rule him out being taken 14th then. He could of course go before that.

I think I was confused with some reports about his skating. I don't think there is an issue there at all now that I look more closely, not only at this report but many others.

I like Boeser, but I think Konecny has overtaken just about everyone for me that is attainable at 15. He just has star quality written all over him and I think he's going to be a great NHL player. I know in the past I've said size and skill for the BPA, but I think this guy is just too good to pass up on now. Everything about him just translates to a fantastic hockey player.

I'd be elated if the Flames picked him. My worry now is if he's going to be available at 15. This Bruins news has me slightly concerned.

Trying to find the source, but I was reading that the Kings (13th overall) are really high on Konecny.

This is from friedman's 30 thoughts on Calgary.

They have plenty of speed and skill, and apparently are looking for some power that can play alongside those players.

While the article is focusing on more immediate needs, this calls into question the organizations attitude towards smaller players. We all remember Burke's comment on stempniak when he left, that if he was 10lbs heavier he'd be a dynamic hockey player. Yes, the scouts have input but if Burke and Treliving are on the same page, not sure if the organization will draft a player with a small frame when other bigger players are available.

That should be dubbed the Phil Kessel award.

Kyle Connor turned out bigger than I thought. Thusly, he's definitely going to go higher pushing one player down.
