It's my birthday today, and day off work, and I'm spending it fixing our toilets in the house. I'm actually happy to do this.
Anyway, does anyone have any name of plumbing supply places in Calgary? Besides the popular places like Rona, Home Depot and Lowes?
I'm looking for a replacement valve for our Kohler K3386 Rialto toilet. The part number is: 1068031. I know I can order it online, but I would rather pick it up locally.
I've already tried Plumbfull Warehouse. But they wanted to sell me the generic Korky "fits all toilets" valve. Unfortunately, this toilet would need the specific valve, as described above, because of the placement of the water supply and such. The Korky is too big.
Can anyone help?

I called Plumbateria, but they want $65, when I can get it for $37 on the Kohler website. I think I'm just going to end up buying it online.
Should be no problems buying directly from Kohler.

Wow, that's a shame if Chesney's is closed. Crappy location though, every time I was there the place was empty.

I have been trying to add pictures from my dropbox to posts on CP but it doesn't seem to work. I grab the link directly from dropbox, paste the link into the popup box for images, but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Privacy settings? Can you view the image from the link if you're not logged in to Dropbox?

I am looking for four 2cm x 2cm pieces of plywood to tighten drawer knobs. Any idea where I could find small pieces of plywood? People at Home Depot and Rona gave me a weird look when I asked

To post stuff from Dropbox to an online forum, the only way is to put it in the Public Folder and then use that link. The pictures folder won't allow hotlinking.

drive out to any new community and scavenge in the garbage bins infront of the houses under construction. Or spend the 7 bucks and buy a sheet???

In Rona there is a section that has hobbyist-sized pieces of wood like oak, pine, spruce, etc. Cut off what you need and add the rest to a bonfire collection.

See if they have a service where they cut plywood for you. If they do go and talk to the guy who operates the saw, he probably has a bucket full of little cut off pieces.

GOOD NEWS! The universal Korky toilet valve kit worked great!
Used this one here: http://www.korky.com/WaterWI$E528Z.html
And here are all their other valves: http://www.korky.com/fillvalves.html
Thank you Korky...thank you!
side note: spending your birthday fixing toilets is strangely satisfying.

Haha! Yah, it's a riot around here. Just one of those things that needed to be done, and I couldn't put down without finishing.
On a side note: as I described in the YKWRGMG thread, I need to replace the water supply shut off valve now. Freakin' water everywhere this morning!

Does anybody know of a good used bookstore in Calgary? I'm not looking for 'Fair's Fair,' more like a small, dingy, hole in the wall stuffed with cheap books. Thanks!

For anyone who has one of those Nespresso capsule coffee makers, what's the most economical way to buy the capsules?

There used to be one near Sounds of Music. 8th ave and 10th street(ish). Don't remember prices but dingy, hole in the wall stuffed with books sure summed the place up.

Yeah, I guess that's my question, if there is better way to get this coffee other than through Nespresso.
Funny, I just had the Rosabaya sample. It was pretty good, although I've had some others that were decent too. It's not $2000 espresso maker quality, but I think it's fairly good coffee considering it's an all in one.

My upstairs neighbors bathroom pipe burst, and water leaked down the wall into our bathroom....mainly behind the wall-tile in the shower. Part of the ceiling was leaking too, and the grout itself shows wet stains in certain parts. What kind of issues should I be concerned about? Is that something that can turn into mold, or would it dry out over time?
It will be their responsibility to fix.

You sure you didn't run over a cat when you moved here? Man you seem to be jinxed. Good luck with this new adventure.
