I don't give a ####

For example, I am wearing shorts home on the plan from Victoria on Saturday, I am wearing my birkenstocks and ankle socks

I don't care

The biggest issue with call center and front line staff at WestJet is that policies and procedures are very fluid and those staff are no longer empowered to take control of situations. I worked there up until COVID shutdown the airlines. When I started, issues were resolved pretty well and efficiently because the staff was empowered to provide resolutions. But over time that slowly changed and eventually was completely gone. Additionally, new policies, procedures and processes were being implemented but those were always changing so the staff had a very difficult time keeping on top of what is current vs not. There would be frequent updates and sometimes things would yo-yo back and forth. I wasn't part of call center or front line but even our information would constantly change because they were trying for a huge push in "continuous improvement" and optimization but things would be very poorly implemented.

I have a lot of sympathy for those folks because it is a tough situation to be in. Dealing with other people's problems every day would really suck.

There’s not situation. Pull the cuff back over your foot to turn the crew socks into ankle socks like every other millennial had to do at one point in their youth lest face the mocking wrath of their peers. Looking good requires sacrifice, and you’ll sacrifice your arches to show the world your calves and ankles. So suck it up and get back out there!

My kid told me that ankle and no see socks are out now. That somewhere in between long and short was where it's at. Are they wrong?

I don't understand the fashion industry at all. What's wrong with people wearing different styles? Why does everyone need to wear the same thing for 2 years, then swap it? Well, ok, I get why they do it(money) but why do people insist on following it? People are silly.

That's why I just stick with the classics

T-shirt, jeans. Add hoodie or jacket in winter. Done

We recently got f’d by Flair on our trip to Waterloo last Friday. Cancelled our flight at the last minute and rescheduled our flight a week out, after their call centre closed for the night. Managed through their online chat to get us booked later that day to Toronto 16 hrs later and had to Uber it to Waterloo. Not happy. Not sure if we can make an APPR claim for anything? I tried submitting a compensation claim through their website, but didn’t get any confirmation of receiving it.

Unless people are wearing something obscene, they should just be allowed to wear what they are happy to wear.

1. Forced to take a two day course in something barely applicable to my job which means I need to now take at least 12-16 hours out of my own time to complete work.

2. Lunch and Learn/course sandwiches. everyone - "how can you say no to free lunch??". Because I'm not homeless and I graduated elementary school. Can you put more mayo and butter on that soggy ass onion bun.

3. Industry courses that could be at least 3/4 shorter, but since its the instructors "thing" they need to blather on and on.

Show them pictures of your grandpa in long socks and shorts. Should sort them out pretty quick.

In all seriousness, teen/young clothing has essentially always been expressing the polar opposite of their parents/old people.

As a 35-40 year old, I grew up with ankle socks, skinny jeans, 60's style suits, low waisted jeans etc. Compare that to the 80s - 90s: tube socks, mom-jeans; shoulder pads etc.

Young people today are wearing high socks, baggier, high-wasted jeans, and baggier suits/blazers. All to subconsciously not look like their old parents.

Exacerbating this issue is fast fashion and their 16 seasons, and tik tok influencers using generational differences like this to drive engagement.

That's pretty well my normal dress although I rotate the Untuckit style button shirts not tucked in. Casual never goes out of style.

Would you be ok going to a bank and dealing with someone in a t shirt and jeans?

How about buying furniture? A salesperson wearing a plain hoodie and jeans?

Was it aboard the SS. Minnow on a jaunty tour?

That's fine a lot of people do, it was just a question of if you would be ok with that.

I mean, first off those are both terrible experiences that I try to avoid as much as possible.

But to the extent they're necessary to occasionally do in person why would I care what the person is wearing? Does wearing a blazer and having slicked back hair make the furniture guy any more trustworthy (answer = no) or make the bank teller any more competent (answer = no). So who cares?

I'm a highly competent professional and I wear jeans and a t-shirt when I work. It doesn't bother me to extend the same courtesy to service industry types.

Unless having different clothes somehow impairs their ability to do their job, the sure I would.
