I read all of the article and this stood out to me:
Studies show that around eight in 10 cases of childhood gender dysphoria resolve themselves by puberty and 30 percent of people on hormone therapy discontinue its use within four years, though the effects, including infertility, are often irreversible.

Nenshi considering thinking about an NDP run
Quote:
He said he hadn’t been contemplating seeking the party’s leadership, but added, “I have been listening to a lot of pitches from party members and other Albertans.

“Over the coming weeks, I hope to have more conversations about whether my running would help build a better Alberta. I’m sure I will have more to say soon.”

I hope Nenshi does it. He’d likely end this pathetic UCP government.

Define “resolve themselves”. That is open to a lot of interpretation.

He might not win over the rural voting base (I'm sure many see him as a snobby urban elitist) but he would wipe the floor with Daniele Smith and David Parker in debates and policy making. Also, the guy seems truly incorruptible. Can't say the same about alt-right Geppetto and marionette Marlaina.

Would love for Nenshi to run for NDP leadership. May even consider signing up and volunteering for his campaign if so.

I thought I had made my mind up but this possibility certainly puts that in doubt.

No, don't unite the left. Unite the center with the Alberta party, and leave the liberal party on the left with the greens.
The Alberta Democratic Party. Done.

Well maybe the UCP should stop tanking the healthcare system and actually make it possible to actually access these thorough resources? Or maybe, just maybe we can assume that nobody goes to their doctor for these issues has given it less thought than whether to get a side order of fries (fringe examples notwithstanding because you can find those for anything).
The literature shows the 'regret rate' for gender surgery is 1-7%. For all surgeries the rate is 15-20%.
1 out of 5 people regrets their knee replacement surgery.
1 out of 20-100 regret their gender surgery
Different implications for each of course. But the other thing to remember is that the 'alternate timeline' for those few people that do regret their course of treatment was unlikely to be sunshine and lollipops if they simply 'stayed the course' in what seemed unbearable at the time. In fact, there's no reason to believe they'd ever come to that epiphany at all on that alternate timeline.

Unfortunately the Alberta party is full of some the dumbest political minds around. I don't care who wins as long as this disgusting joke of a government goes away.

Anyone else notice lab results have slowed down a lot recently? They used to be up, often the same day. if not, rarely more than 24 hours. The past 3 times it's been at least 2 days, and now my Wednesday morning still isn't available. Anyone know why they are so slow now? I have to assume it's the whole APL-> Dynalife -> ??? #### show, but I'm not sure why. Not great if doctors are relying on these to come quickly for decisions.

Small sample size but the tests I needed before Xmas and just after were back the exact same day, with a call from my family doctor also that day. Edmonton based.
My mom also needed a test yesterday and got her results same day, rural Alberta.

Maybe Fuzz needs to check his file as he might have an Elaine "difficult" thing going on.

Yes, that must be it. Couldn't possibly be a result of the UCP and their absolute bungling on the lab file, mostly out of spite, gifting, and stupidity. But go ahead and blame the people who rely on it because you couldn't possibly find a way to think critically.

I think this depends on where the collection is done, but my recent tests have been the fastest ever. At Foothills last fall, I had results within a couple of hours. At Glenbrook this week, I had tests in the evening and results the next morning. I was also able to book an appointment the day prior to the test and there were lots of slots.
EDIT: It also depends on the test being done. A1C took much longer to come back, and last fall one item took more than 24 hours.

Ya, mine were just basic tests. I've heard of some doctors sending patients to hospitals for lab tests because the results are much quicker. I think they do them onsite, or are still AHS?

Holy ####, relax a bit and try to enjoy a bit of light-hearted joking.
Actually, now I'm thinking it might be more true than just a fun jab.
