Strange offseason. Hoping Eklund is right, and hoping Friedman would be wrong (Tre contract, Bennett to ANA).

if the flames did sign jagr, what would be the price you'd want him at? what would an overpay be?
I'd hate to pay the guy more than 1.5m + 1m in potential bonuses.

Pay him whatever he wants as long as it's only one year. Hell get at least 3.5

I'd be totally ok with a 1 year deal.
Yes, he's older now, yes, he's not a speedster. But to watch him play for one year in a Flames jersey would be fantastic. Would be a nice addition for the PP too.

Also didn't someone pull up the stats that everyone Jagr played with had dramatically better corsi stats versus when not with Jagr?

Jagr would be amazing because despite his age, he is still a great scorer and can teach others. It would never hurt having a player with his resume in the organization.

If the Flames bring in Jagr, then what was the point of signing Versteeg? Or why trade a 2nd for Lazar? We already have the terrible signing of 4.5 million playing on the bottom line in Brouwer. Where would Jagr honestly play?

You just compared three players here for different situations and at different points of development. If six forwards can't fulfil top six roles then Jagr could make sense, don't overcomplicate it.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Jagr
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg - Bennett - Lazar
Ferland - Jankowski - Brouwer
Stajan/Hamilton
It's all about depth.

I don't know if Smith or Lack are going to work out so he can play goal.

Personally I'd love him on a line with Tkachuk and Bennett.

Frolik - Backlund - Brouwer
Tkachuk - Bennett - Jagr
Versteeg - Jankowski - Lazar
Stajan
I sometimes wonder if hiding Brouwer with Backlund/ Frolik can get his value up high enough to move him. Backlund made Colborne and Bouma look like much better NHLers than hey we're.

I have no idea what you mean. I'm sure Treliving didn't pay 4.5 million for a guy to play 7 minutes a night. I'm sure he didn't give up a 2nd rounder for a bottom line forward. If so, he's not very good at building a roster.
Maybe while you're at it, sign Iginla and every free agent left and hope out of all those forwards under contract, 9 of them should be good enough to fill a top 9 roster, right? No. You don't just load your team with a glut of players and hope it pans out. You build strategically.

Jagr is a done deal as far as I'm concerned.
Gully coaching connection + Burke/Treliving/Gulutzan respect and desire to play veterans.
Fills a need I guess. Will be awesome but would have preferred Iggy.

Please no Jagr. The team doesn't need the distraction he would bring. Plus he's pretty useless right now. Sure he can put up some points when his linemates carry him, but he's not better than Versteeg right now.

With Versteeg signed, there just isn't room for Jagr.
