u21s aren't really a good way to judge youth systems
most of Spurs/Arsenals are in the main squad
Chelsea's are all at Vitesse etc.

Yeah, the results and league trophies are not the results upon which you should judge your youth program. The promotion and success of Rashford is a better barometer.

Yeah, it's not like United's U21 lost any players to the main squad or anything ^^
I know U21s isn't the only measurable for youth success, but it's still nice.

I think you're being a little kind with the choice of word here. Looked like a clear intent to injure. Dirty is probably the better word.

I think the only possible argument is Ozil should be on there, but I don't know who you'd drop to get him in there. Alli maybe? Unfortunately for Aguero when the top 2 goalscorers happen to both be English, no way you make that team.

Özil was outstanding in the first half of the season but faded away in the second half. No way I'd have him in the team ahead of Mahrez, Payet and Alli tbh.

I'm not saying that Ozil should be there at all, but I think that Mahrez followed a similar trajectory and was much better in the first half also?

indeed, Mahrez has faded a bit too. Better production though (16 goals + 10 assists) than Özil (6 goals + 18 assists) and had a bigger overall impact this season IMO

Neither would I, but I think he's the only player who can claim he should be on the team. Otherwise I think they basically nailed it. Also of note is that De Gea is the most expensive player on that list at a fee of Ł18 million, so spending big in the transfer market isn't necessarily how to build a great team.

Mamadou Sakho failed a drug test after Liverpools 2nd EL leg vs Man United. Apparently it was a fat burner, similar to the one Kolo Toure used a few years ago.
Quote:
Liverpool FC club statement
Yesterday, Friday 22nd April 2016, a formal communication was received from UEFA stating that they are investigating a possible anti-doping rule violation by Mamadou Sakho. The player will respond to UEFA on the matter.
The player is currently not subject to any playing suspension. However, the club, in consultation with the player, has decided that while this process is followed the player will not be available for selection for matches.
There will be no further comment at this time.
|
Will be interesting to see the suspension for this one. Toure was banned for 6 months back then.
