Yeah, turned out really well. Not sure how it's positive anyway. It's not like I ever said, 'Wow, that Weiner scandal really wants me to check out New York'.
It's trash TV and people like to watch a trainwreck. That's about it.
If anyone thinks this is going to have tangible benefits for Toronto's tourism, they're not paying attention.
Don't misquote me.
I never said him going on Kimmel was positive. I did say that he got attention for Hollywood North by walking around during the Oscar lead up.
Going on late night talk shows was a bad idea from the start.

Ok, I misunderstood, but it's in the same realm anyway.
I don't think any potential investors or people looking at making a film suddenly changed their minds on Toronto (or learned about Toronto) with him being there.
Not saying it's really negative either. Just that it's a big, 'so what?'
It's a circus and people like to watch. Doubtful he was there telling people anything they didn't already know about the film industry in Toronto.
Toronto and Vancouver, and to a lesser extent Calgary, are already well known in circles like that.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... how does he not have a PR person/handler preventing stuff like this? He must just be straight up ignoring & disregarding any outside council or advice.
"Hmm here's a comedian that has been making fun of you for months and has no reason to change that behaviour. I can't imagine appearing on their show will be favourable to you Rob."
I mean it's just basic, basic stuff, hell the most non-media savvy person on the planet would be able to watch 20 minutes of video and determine this is not an appearance worth participating in.
I read Tyler's post and the link where Ford was upset about the interview and figured it was going be a really strained, awkward interview, where Jimmy tried to be a **** and hammer him about how bad he is and basically have more of a serious "you're terrible" interview, instead of having fun with it and making it a funny interview, and I was prepared to be disappointed.
After watching that, it was exactly what I was expecting, and pretty awesome to watch. I mean, they state that Jimmy showed embarrassing videos. Yeah, no ****, those videos are half the reason he's so well known. I didn't see anything awkward or mean or sad. It was just a hilarious interview where Jimmy basically "took a trip down memory lane" so to speak, with Rob Ford present and went over everything that has happened.
He also let Rob Ford get in some decent points about himself and the city of Toronto, and ended by saying he seems like a good person so take care of yourself, and jokingly referring to him as his favorite mayor in the world.
I don't know, it didn't seem like the awkward, sad, all out assault that people were making it out to be, imo. I liked it.
Rob and Doug feel Kevin Spacey insulted them by not taking a picture with the brothers
Quote:
The Fords ripped Spacey, currently starring in the hit House of Cards television series, in the latest edition of their YouTube show. During a recent trip to Los Angeles, the pair appeared on Jimmy Kimmel's late-night talk show on the same night as Mr. Spacey.
Councillor Doug Ford described Mr. Spacey as an “arrogant SOB” in the video, saying that, backstage, the actor refused to take photos with them.
Yeah, I heard that Ford held his own, Chow did ok but fumbled a few times, and Tory was a disaster.
The problem is that Chow can't just do ok, and Tory can't afford to fall back.
From reading, all sides got caught with some incorrect statements, but nobody really capitalized.
I also believe that most Toronto Voters aren't even looking at Fords issues during this election. You've got a city that's set between the inner city anyone but ford and the rest Ford or bust, and with Tory and Chow splitting votes, Ford will probably slip up the middle, smoke his opposition and take a big drink of victory.
Francesco Antonio seems to feel similarly, having tweeted “Olivia Chow, what an embarrassing debate. No facts. All you did was attack candidates. Are you running for mayor or school bully? #TOpoli.”
Sounds like Chow learned well from her husband. He built a minority government on attacking Harper looking like a nerd.

Exactly. I mentioned when Chow was thinking about throwing her hat in the ring I hoped she wouldn't cause it's just going to split the vote.
However, I woulda thought she would been a better debater than that.
But yeah, as for Ford's extracurricular issues it's not going to erode anymore support from him than it already has. If people are voting for him now, they obviously don't care about those issues, or believe largely it's a smear campaign.
I hate to sound mean about Chow, but most of her political capital has come from being the wife of Jack Layton. I've never been all that impressed with her.
I flipped through her book when I was at chapters, and it was the biggest back patting piece of sh%t that I've ever read.
Without Jack, she's really a non-entity.
Of course my toronto living latte sipping, pinko communist socialist sister absolutely adores her, so I need her to lose and lose badly, actually I need Rob Ford to win this election, so I can rub it in my sister's face when I go out there.

I'd agree with that, she doesn't impress me that much either, and less so now.
