Give it up Moon. Morrow is not a closer. He has the ability to power and eat up big innings. Morrow has started games with lights-out stuff before. This is his second season as a regular starter. Give him some experience and follow up with sound development and coaching, you will have a confident pitcher with great stuff. It would be a shame to miscast him as a closer when he can shut down big bats. See below and the company he keeps, remember the stats below were based on his first year as a regular starter with more than just a few games:

The only starting pitchers to produce a K/9 of nine or more in at least 100 IP this year according to Fan Graphs are:

Brandon Morrow - 10.95
Yovanni Gallardo - 9.99
Jered Weaver - 9.89
Clayton Kershaw - 9.75
Francisco Liriano - 9.69
Jon Lester - 9.51
Tim Lincecum - 9.47
Jhoulys Chacin - 9.39
Jonathan Sanchez - 9.27
Mat Latos - 9.25
Bud Norris - 9.20
Manny Parra - 9.13
Cole Hamels - 9.10

Is that enough impressive crap for you now? Please read my past postings in this forum about Morrow being a starter and not a closer. I am just repeating myself. He is inexperience and therefore do not have consistency in his focus or confidence in his stuff. This is his second year as a fulltime regular starter.

Except that he never said that. Posts like this make it seem like your only goal here is to start another argument and derail this thread.

That is what happens when you are inexperience and lacking consistency and focus in your second full year as a regular starter. With expereience comes confidence and ability to stay focus.

Ugh...as soon as he gets legitimate movement on fastball, he is damn good. His stuff virtually assures him a long pro career.

There's no doubt he's just a decent bottom of the rotation guy with plus stuff right now due to his inconsistency, but to ignore the more than a handful of amazing starts over the last 2 seasons is moronic.

I tend to take the view that you should judge someone by their best games - I still think he has the potential to be a big time starter in this league. Sometimes guys take a little while to harness their potential at the Bigs.

Randy Johnson, soon to be an HOFer, didn't have his career kick started until he was 26.

Sometimes it just takes confidence and maturity - something Morrow still has a bit of time left to develop.

I'd like to think Morrow falls somewhere in between Moon's and Verve's assesments.
