So those are the same as Boeing's winglets now?

They're calling them 'sharklets'. *eyeroll* They look pretty much the same.

"Anything you can do I can do better" Boeing says... here's their new winglet...

How many of them will get taken out by service vehicles remains to be seen. What's funny is that by adding the bottom piece, it's more reminiscent of the original wingtip fence on the A320, which Airbus has replaced with a Boeing-style blended winglet. War of attrition between these 2.

Boeing has a patent or copyright on the name winglets, thus sharklets. The new winglets on the 737MAX are so called Scimitar design. I like the look. Reminds me of MD-11.

Good shot of it and also explains it.

The Antonov 124 is scheduled to depart at 0900 to Keflavik:

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/ADB1036

The forecast winds look to be out of the south, so the departure will most likely be off of runway 16 heading south over the city. Should be a nice sight, until it hits that low cloud cover.

Cargolux 747-800 just departed, the condensation effects are amazing this morning! Vapour off the wingtips and big sheets of condensation along the top of the wing. The downside is she disappeared into the clouds really quick.

Hoping the Antonov puts on a similar show.

With the low cloud cover today, most planes departing are disappearing into the clouds before McKnight. Fun to watch.

A couple of each (landing in the sun, leaving in the clouds).

Was on Deerfoot SB and saw a single CF-18 banking out to the west, which I assumed just departed. Time is about right.

Yup, saw it from the office! Looked like a CF-18! Went straight up and turned west, pretty awesome sight.

Edit: Damn, Flacker beat me to it haha

Saw a 747 leaving this am from Ogden.

CTV2 is currently showing "Flightplan: YYC". About the airport if people can catch it.

Is it just me or did I see a Globemaster just land at YYC?

Yup, it was an RAF C-17.

Had a twitter message from a buddy about a minute before that just said "Run out back!"
