Rumour going around tonight with my Edmonton buddies that the Oilers are signing Jussi Jokinen. Sounds like they've heard it from Twitter and that other site.

I believe the Jagr-Flames "rumor" likely comes from the Fan soon there little attempt to bring Jagr here. Boomer said this morning he doesn't think there is any legit interest in Jagr from the Flames higher ups

Maybe only sucky players experience success on a sucky team? Anyways, in the right situation, I do think that both Iginla and Jagr can contribute both on and off the ice. I agree with Young Guns - those two can, Doan is probably done.

What are the usual signs that point to someone having a bounceback season?
Whatever they are, I bet Iginla would check quite a few of the boxes.
I definitely don't see him doing any worse, that's for sure.

If it's cheap, it would be a good signing. He's a very versatile player who had a tough first half with some injury trouble. He can play all 3 forward positions, kill penalties, play on the secondary power play. A good defensive player who can still put up 30-40 points.

so if the oilers are close to signing him, does that mean he's going to sign with the Flames?

Nope. He's officially signed a 1 year deal with the Oil.

Unfortunately, $1.1 million for Jokinen is a good signing by the Oilers. Good defensively and due for a bounce-back season offensively. Gross.

Damn...$1.1M is very good. I'm still hoping we can make one or two more moves and pick up some cheap guys like Pirri on a very cheap deal.

For once I hope Eklund gets it right. They'd sell more Jagr jerseys then even Gaudreau imo.

Since Eklund's predictions are inversely proportional to reality, the actual chance is now 10%

If Tre is looking to add you have to think he will after Bennett/Ferly get their contracts, need to make sure we have a bit of wiggle room going into the season. Jagr is so enticing though I have to admit.. I'm not sure he'd be with Johnny/Mony as Craig suggests though I could see him with them on the PP; Jagr to me would most likely play with Versteeg/Bennett and give us 3 incredibly capable scoring lines that would be rivaled by few IMO. Even our 4th line would be able to chip in semi regularly.
Every dog has its day Eklund... let this be yours.

Jagr had 14 goals 12 assists and a -5 rating when coached by Glen Gulutzan in Dallas before getting traded to Boston that year.
He played all 82 games last year.. 79 the year before -- he still has gas and GG was noted to being supremely impressed when coaching Jags who told him that he never gets tired.
Frolik was born in Jagr's home town as well.
There appears to atleast be some connections that help support the idea of Jagr potentially signing here + the traveling Jagr's are from Calgary so it just seems to be density... i mean DESTINY.

Eklund is a funny character. I do however recall him being right only a handful of times. Conroy returning from LA comes to mind immediately.
