How much is SAP paying the NHL to have that invisible patch on one shoulder?

Not much I am sure. Probably some sort of "we will take some off what we pay you to run our website" in exchange for the patches.
I thought they said they couldn't sell any jersey ads?
Also SAP is the devil.

Flash, I was talking about NHL jerseys. The WC is a pure money grab so it goes without saying ads would be on the jerseys. Not talking about reebok either if you want to go there.

Ya the players are getting paid. Think I read somewhere, maybe here, that the NHLPA take was estimated around $30-40 million. Although it was not yet determined how that money would be split among the players.

Newsflash: the NHL is neither a business nor a charity or goodwill gesture. Every year they will find ways to increase revenue. This is also neither unethical or disingenuous. I feel like this needs to be said too often

You know, i'm not a Crosby fan, but he has been outstanding in the tournament. He's just at a whole different level.
I've watched Marchand do very well with him. I've watched Duschene make huge impacts. I've seen some great goaltending. While it is clear the ice is tilted it's good to see how well this Team Canada meshes to just dominate, while I can see why that wouldn't be entertaining it's fascinating to see players of this calibre really working at an elite level.
The Doughty hit the other night and the smiles and laughs on the bench. It's a great way for all NHL players to jumpstart what is hopefully a stellar season.
TNA was also a great team that had so much going on.

Hey, there's a game tonight. They cancelled the outdoor fan event tonight due to "weather":

Glad this tourny is coming to an end. I'm happy Canada will win it, but I could care less about watching the games.
Team North America was exciting to watch.
Just hoping that the NHL allows its players to participate in the 2018 olympics.

They could make the season 100 games long and make more money. Doesn't mean it's a good idea or that it would be embraced by the fans.

Never watched a single game. Frankly it will never come close to matching the Canada Cups in 1976, 1984 and 1987 for all it's drama and excitement.

I get your point, but I don't think that's it.
I watched every minute of this tournament, but it wasn't the same because in those days it was the only chance to be the boss.
The 1996 Final was as intense as any Stanley Cup Final. This tournament didn't even come close to that IMO. Remember all the fights? Those guys were trying to kill each other.
There was nothing like that in this one. It was still good, but the only drama of the whole thing (for Canada) was for about 90 minutes tonight. Then they turned it on. And even if they hadn't, they still had another chance.

And to be honest, I completely forgot there was a game on last night. And it's not like I couldn't have watched it or even turned to it, was flipping between the Jays and the Flames pre-season, that's how much this is on my radar.

I was watching it and almost forgot there was a hockey game on as well.

You know what I was thinking actually is that the WC would have been a home run without the gimmick teams.
You can bet your ass people would be tuning in if it was a Canada Russia final or Canada USA final.
I think in 2020 when they do it, they replace the two gimmick teams with genuine teams and you got yourselves an Olympic style tournament, but without all the pesky IOC that goes along with it.
Send the U23s to the Olympics in addition to the annual WJC and let NHLers play NHL hockey.

I, for one, can't wait to watch Latvia, Switzerland, Denmark or Slovakia get sh&& kicked by the big six.

I didn't watch one second of this blatant attempt by the NHL to hijack the national pride of the Olympics becuase they couldn't stand that they weren't getting a cut. This joke of a tourney will never be the olympics. Ever.
So fired up that Canada beat a cobbled together team of Europeans with a terrible logo and an ex-oilers coach.

It is my understanding that was the initial plan. At this time, due to the disparity in world ranked teams 7-10, they were having a hard time deciding who would be teams 7 and 8. I thought I recall hearing that they were going to have a longer play-in system or qualifying tournament to have the teams that actually make it next time, and they did not have the time to do so this year.
That being said, I would not be surprised if they keep the 23 and under team as it seems to have been a hit...

I don't buy that. They could have made it the 2017 World Cup with proper qualifying. They've had years to plan this. They wanted McDavid and Matthews in the tournament in Toronto plain and simple.

Yea watching Canada play Latvia and Belarus at the olympics generates sooooo much intensity it's insane, can't wait.......
Obviously you didn't watch a second of the tourney because that cobbled together team of Europeans made it to the FINAL, and owned Canada in 55 of 60 minutes played yesterday... But please tell us again how much you didn't watch. and that logo
