It is kinda wild how Huberdeau's production halved in one year. Historic stuff in the wrong direction lol
I do seem to recall that his analytics weren't great even in his big years

The reason for Huby’s big spike in production with the Panthers is because Andrew Brunette had them playing pond hockey.

He was a 92 point player in the 3 yeas leading up to the 115 point spike. I would be pretty happy if he could put up 70 in a Flames uniform, right now he's on pace for 49.

Coach Q is doing a pretty good job getting scoring in Anaheim too. Clearly that’s the best coach for Huby.
Bouncing back to yesterday’s topic, Kadri and Coleman played exactly like two players about to get traded. Paired with their odd Instagram posts. It’s tank time.

Yeah, it sure seems that way. Very uncharacteristic for both guys when compared to their play the last 20 games or so.

There’s gotta be a trade in place with that kind of performance. That was pathetic.

I’d trade anyone except for Wolf after that game.
Zero heart.

I never question one guys heart on this team. Mr. Lamborghini himself. Don’t care what anyone says this guy is on my Stanley cup roster every time. My kids ready starts rolling up the sleeves when he gets pissed off in a game.

Fair enough. Klapka and Bahl seemed to show up as well.
The rest of the lineup was a no show.

We need to blow it up, and games like this just highlight this even more clearly. What is the point of trying to sneak in and getting smoked by a team with superstar players.
And I am aware we traded a bunch of vets on expiring contracts 2 years ago, but it is not enough. Kadri, Andersson, and Coleman are stealing us games and hurting the tank. They are all high in demand and should be worth a lot.
It is sad, I do not want to trade Anderssson even. But all 3 need to go. We should be actively tanking if we want to compete one day for a cup. I just don't see any argument for keeping these players.

I just hope somehow they can dump Sharangovich. I think it might be impossible though.

Lol, like 50% retained for the rest of the contract?

Players of Huberdeau's stature may have put up a big stink, or sulked, or have turned into a problem. He never did. He is not a distraction. He is still a positive vet, great with the media and never ducked them. Plays hard. Added a more physical element to his game. It is what it is. One bad deal on the books, and a lot of teams have one bad deal. No room for another bad deal, that's all. You can absorb Huberdeau's bad deal because he contributes in many small ways.
One thing I started noticing that is creeping back into his game is the unnecessary turnovers - trying to make too difficult a pass across too many sticks lately again. Hopefully he just calms his game down a bit again and starts making safer and higher percentage plays again. Other than this - and obviously his contract - Huberdeau is a solid player and a solid vet on the team.
|
What could he make a stink about? Hey you're paying me way more money than I'm worth for way to long. Hey my play dropped off a cliff even before my contract started. Hey I'm top line and top powerplay still. Hey I play nearly 20 minutes a night.
The only reason he's not a complete disaster for the team is because they suck right now so it really doesn't matter but I also don't think we need to pretend like he's doing anything other than the bare minimum.

He is on pace for 45 points this season, assuming he doesn’t miss any more time.
Continue to get between 55-65 points? I wouldn’t be so sure of that. Especially as he ages, produces even less, and hopefully his ice time gets decreased due to decreased production, and replaced by younger, better players.
He has averaged less than 55 points per season since he got here. He’s had more than 55 points once.

At this rate, I might even want to keep Andersson over Weegar with the way Andersson has been playing, and if the offers for a pending UFA are potentially not there.
LOTS of assumptions, but assuming:
a) Andersson is willing to extend 8 years at 8-9m per
b) Weegar waives his NTC to any team interested in him (let's say he waives to a contender that gives us a haul)
c) The haul for Weegar far exceeds any package mustered for Andersson
Should this be considered? I guess my take on it is "one must go", to start making room for Parekh and Brzustewicz.
I get some are reluctant on keeping Andersson, but let's keep in mind Andersson is almost 3 years younger than Weegar. The only thing Weegar has is a better cap hit, which at this point and where we are in the standings, really doesn't matter all that much. If you can find a suitor he would get an insanely good return, a much more better one than Andersson too.
