So Rogers Retentions did approve me for a HUP, but they no longer do those over the phone / internet. You have to go to an actual store to get it.

Yeah, you'll find people get different answers every time. Make you speak to Customer Relations or Retentions. They can do more for you. Don't expect the phone right away though.

strong rumors that AirPrint for networked printers won't work initially in 4.2 due to lots of bugs in beta, and only HP airPrint ones will

You're welcome! It works for me, as I generally have the phone in my pocket on handsfree while talking. I hope you were able to reconnect...

On 10.6.5 and iOS 4.2, AirPrint is officially pulled for non HP Airprint printers. However, there are ways to enable it..(computer side)

Looks like someone was doing some patent trolling and Apple pulled Airprint as a result.
They removed some files that existed in developer releases of OS X 10.6.5 so if you were to get those files, it would still work.
Airprint will only work with HP ePrint printers. An ePrint printer has an email address and a device only has to email a document as an attachment and the printer knows to just print out the attachment.

AirPrint works works perfectly fine for me with my Samsung laser printer plugged into my Airport Extreme.
10.6.5 Combo Update and 4.2 GM Seed.
They only nixed sharing the printer directly from your Mac. In other words, if the printer is plugged directly into your Mac and shared through Print Sharing, you're SOL (unless it's an HP ePrint which doesn't even use Print Sharing, as noted above). If your printer is plugged into your router or some other print server, and shared on your network from your Mac with Print Sharing, you're good to go.
That's how I've understood everything anyway.

Did you have a beta 10.6.5 installed at any time?

Oh is that all it is? I stopped reading about the whole thing last night. At that time, the "Airport Extreme vs directly plugged in" theory seemed to make the most sense.
So having previously installed the 10.6.5 beta, I still have the files needed by AirPrint on my system? If Apple was disabling AirPrint because of patent issues, wouldn't the combo update also remove the relevant leftover beta files and/or settings?

Exactly. Nope, having a previous beta and applying the combo update only replaces the similar files with new ones, it doesnt replace the extra files from the 10.6.5 beta. It is a set of 3 files that enable AirPrint computer side.
I didn't install 10.6.5 beta, AirPrint wasn't working. Got the 3 files, and AirPrint started working

Shame about the delay. I have been looking forward to multitasking on the ipad since I picked it up. It goes with me to meetings and it would be insanely helpful to be able to switch between apps quickly, and have them not reboot when you do it.
I also listen to a ton of podcasts and I like to listen to them while driving or making dinner. Problem is that because I have my house set up to run airtunes (now airplay), when I want to listen to a podcast in the kitchen it's streaming from my computer but when I listen to it in the car it's coming from my iphone. Never are the two synced up so I'm always having to scrub to find my position in the podcast. With full airplay I could just stream from my phone and wouldn't have to worry about the podcast being it multiple places.

Don't know about the iPad, but you can install the GM iOS 4.2 on iPhones with iTunes 10.1.

Technical question for someone who may know....
I'm looking to export all the sms messages from an iPhone. From the tutorials I've looked into, once you get the sms.db file off the phone the process is pretty straightforward and I can take it from there. The problem comes up with getting the sms.db off the phone: All methods I've seen so far involve jailbreaking it. It's pretty important that the phone isn't altered. However, most of these articles I've found are about 2 years old - maybe something has changed since then...?
Any advice?

Nothing's changed. In order to access system files like that, you will need something like iPhone explorer which requires the phone to be jailbroken.
