Sure, but we're already competing for a playoff spot as the lowest-scoring team in the league. Do you want to pay Ehlers a huge salary to screw the pooch in the playoffs?

No I don't want him. I was just saying we need needle movers, and I don't he is him.

I wonder how their fans are feeling about this

Philly’s motivation in this trade was cap relief.
Plus they ended up with a 2nd and 3rd pick.

Do you get the sense that Coleman is open to the idea of leaving? I'm just asking because has a 10 team trade list, and can probably use it very effectively. Maybe a TBL reunion is in the cards, like they did with Gourde, and McDonagh.
I really doubt Calgary gets a guy like Ehlers. In fact, I doubt we sign any top 6 forwards in the offseason. Duchene seemed like the perfect target for CGY, but I bet he's staying in DAL. I could see CGY going hard after Gavrikov, then Provorov, and settle for Lindgren as a top 4 LD.

Saw this on the socials:
"John Tortorella said he hasn't seen enough from Jakob Pelletier.
He did say that he might try Pelletier at Center in the future, and he did come in for a meeting today (Voluntary)."
Not sure what that all means, but i wouldn't be surprised if Pellts isn't a fit with Tortorella. I further could imagine he hits waivers again, next season, including because of his habit of having not great pre-seasons.
i'm not a fan of the "wonder if the Flames could re-claim this guy" but this is actually one where I could see it happening. It seemed like the Flames didn't really want to trade him, and he was very well liked in the room.

Being a well-liked guy in the room only gets you so far. Pelletier is shaping up to be a smaller Curtis Lazar. Europe beckons.

Maybe eventually.
But Lazar is an odd comparison because the dude has carved out an NHL career now of over 550 games across 6 teams.
That is probably Pelts career trajectory if he stays in the NHL.

I like Lindgren as an option. But a long run with Colorado could boost his price quite a bit

Pelletier just can't seem to catch a break.
Turns pro and puts in a near PPG season as a rookie (that's really good).
Sutter didn't give him much of a sniff the following season.
Huska takes over, and it looks like Pelletier is on his way...then gets injured - waste of a season.
This year doesn't have a great preseason, clears waivers, and takes a while to recover his game. Comes back up, and slowly starts looking better and better. Then he gets traded to a new organization just as he looks like he is building some momentum.
Now Torts is questioning him publicly on the new team.
Poor kid, really. Just when he starts to get some traction and momentum, something happens to make him slide. I still think he carves out a career in the NHL, and I would actually welcome him back here if he gets put on waivers. I find it impossible not to root for this kid, especially when he took the news of himself being traded so hard.

What I saw he was asked about him and he deflected saying he hasn't seem him really play enough. He even admitted that he has played limited minutes but would like to see what he can do but also seems like he doesn't want to change up a couple of his lines which limits the players he can play with. I agree he'll carve himself out a spot but I'm not sure that's with Torts and the Flyers.

I think he'll figure it out.
He's a headsy player when he's confident.
I'd assume the trade knocked the feet out from under him, but he'll settle in.

I still can't beleive we got two solid young roster players, one at a position of huge organizational need, for a handful of magic beans. And it truly was magic beans:
- A terribly underperforming roster player on an expiring contract (no value)
- A roster player who was truly waiver fodder with limited upside (low value), don't get me wrong I love pelts but when you take off the rose colored glasses, he is not anything special and holds very little value as an asset.
- A second round pick (only real value) which, based on statistics, was most likely to never make an impact in the NHL.
Like if anyone on this sub was asked before the trade, "what do you think it would take to land frost & Farabee", what would any of us answered??? A second round pick and two 0 impact players would not have been it!

Curtis Lazar outweighs Pelletier by 30 pounds and was able to carve out a 4th line role for himself.
Pelletier… I think he is what he is. They sold high on a solid 2 weeks from the kid and got two NHLers in their early-mid 20s, one of whom is a centre, plus reliable 20/20 winger with term at a good number.
Otherwise, The only thing Pelletier has in common with the players we got is age.
C’est la vie.

To be fair, we Kuzmenko did have some value...just not much. In fact, the exact value was:
50% retained plus 7th for a 3rd round pick.
That's probably equivalent to a 4th/5th round pick.

Andrei Kuzmenko’s value hinges entirely on the notion than a 29 year old Russian named Andrei Kuzmenko can only be so bad at hockey.

Maybe the Flames will re-sign him in the summer if the Flyers move on.

That’s why I specified smaller Lazar. If Lazar was 175lb instead of 205 he wouldn’t have hit even 200 games in the NHL. And I doubt Pelletier does either. Unlike Lazar, there really isn’t a place in an NHL lineup for him if he isn’t scoring.

Torts hasn't seen enough from most of his roster though. Michkov gets benched regularly, York was a health scratch the other day, Frost and Farabee were in the dog house.
Guy loves Risto, though.
