In a North American market (i.e. franchise system), they would probably have been excluded from the market and have their best talent taken/lured away without commensurate compensation. The odds may be stacked against them in England/Europe but they are not completely excluded and have an identifiable path on which they can take their supporters on journeys. Furthermore, they can take this path much further than they could in North America.

I admire your appreciation for the game and ability to do so without having to anchor your ship to a port. It's also entertaining when someone cannot deflect attention from their inability to rationally defend their team's shortcomings by attacking your favourite team.

that's why I always cringe when fans suggest he's a leader and captain material. Is it really that hard to just shut up and do your job? Completely unnecessary can of worms right there, but I'm sure he's earned a nice pat on the back from Raiola.

When are the Saudis just going to buy Raiola his own team?
He can own it, manage it and represent all the players.

turns out they really did build a new stadium after all, who knew? First test event is Spurs U18 vs Southampton U18 in front of 30,000 people today, what an experience for those young players. Next week they have a Spurs legends vs Inter legends in front of 45,000 people.

Spurs won 3-1, which is hopefully an omen of things to come. I will be in London for the last game this season and am trying to get tickets, but it seems the only way will be to pay an arm and a leg. Regardless I’m looking forward to checking out the new stadium in some capacity.

OGS has been appointed as manager for United. I guess they didn’t have much of a choice at this point, and it was kind of a foregone conclusion.

the only realistic outcome. I like it - after the trifecta of nightmare that followed Ferguson, it's good to have someone in charge who "gets" the club. I think he's also shown he's good enough tactically. It's a relatively small sample size, but not giving him the job wasn't an option after all those results.
I hope Mike Phelan stays too. Not confirmed yet, but I'd be a bit surprised if he didn't.

Given how much money they spent, Fulham have to be the worst promoted side ever right? Can't believe I picked them to finish 12th.

I had them at 11. They could have just burned all that money and wouldn't have been worse off I guess.

I think West Ham might (finally!) move up to 7th today.

not a good game. Lucky result. Pogba did his best to convince Real that he's their man ... well, if it's Real Sociedad. So, so frustrating. The whole midfield was terrible today, Shaw and Jones were brilliant though.
as for the third relegation spot, Burnley beating Wolves and Southampton beating Brighton puts a lot of pressure on Cardiff. Huddersfield has already been relegated.

You would think the relegation battle is probably over, Cardiff still have Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool and Man Utd left, and their two huge games against other relegation teams are away (Burnley, Brighton). Fulham will be officially relegated when they lose their next match.

I feel somewhat responsible.

Norwich looking good!
Seventh win in a row puts them seven points clear of third with seven to play.
Decent run in too with all but the last game (away to Villa) against teams in the bottom half of the table.
Going to be a dogfight for the last two playoff places. Seven teams still in it for the final two spots.

Farke is doing an outstanding job by the looks of it. Also sold Maddison and Murphy for a lot of money that wasn't re-invested at all. Impressive stuff.
