It's too bad Stannis couldn't wait it out. His claim would have been strong and he may have had more support given that he was at least a Baratheon.
Without Stannis' tomfoolery, J. Snow and company never would have won that war. It was Ramsay's overconfidence from the Stannis victory that led to his decisions to squander troops by leaving the castle and then shooting arrows at his own troops.
It's very possible you would have seen a unified Stark / Baratheon force, but realistically the Baratheons weren't bringing much to the table without their forces from King's Landing. That's why Stannis' force was largely sell swords.
It also looks like they are emphasizing Dany's eligibility as a bachelorette in the plot. So who are the most likely suitors for her in Westeros who help her cause?
Lord Baelish
Jon Snow (unintended incest possibly, not like that matters)
Jamie Lannister (just to make Cersei suffer more)
Anyone else?

It looks like Baelish is being set up to be one of the main heels next season as well. His plan to gain power through Sansa went sideways now with Jon being selected over her and I expect he will be out to remove Jon somehow.
I'd go one step further.
Littlefinger saw that Jon would likely get the nod as leader and started planting the seed for Sansa to challenge his authority when they met at the weirwood tree.
Even if he can't have her, he knows that she's much more sympathetic to his cause than Jon will ever be. I guarantee that a S7 storyline will be Sansa and Jon being at odds with one another over who should rule, and how to rule the North, and Littlefinger will be the driving force behind the scenes planting ideas in Sansa's head.
I guess it would be no big deal for Daenerys to marry her nephew Jon Snow. Targaryens do that all the time!
Maybe instead of marriage, they just lock down the thrones and control all of Westeros from their respective thrones. A Stark/Targaryen kid on the throne of the North and Daenerys and dragons lock down the south. And Jon gets a dragon of course.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Danny lands in Westeros. Who can contend with that army? Dorne, Highgarden, a good chunk of the Iron Islanders, what is left of the Unsullied and a horde of Dothraki. Oh ya, and 3 dragons. The Starks and the Vale, the Lannisters and the Freys? Doesn't really seem like a fair fight.

Do you mean they only do incest? or they are the only family who does it?
Because even the Mad King Aerys was married to a non-Targaryan. And Rhaegar was betrothed to a non-Targaryan. And his other love, Lyanna, was obviously a Stark. I'm sure someone less lazy than me can look, but I believe the Targaryans stopped doing incest quite a while ago, and even then if my memory serves me correctly, they didn't always do it.

I was exaggerating a bit, but there's tons and tons of it in their history. It used to be their only way

What is interesting is, who is even going to fight?
Would Jon even fight? Presumably he will get close, or just start, and then he'll either survive a dragon (fire) attack or Bran will save the day and reveal his lineage.
Who else is even left? Cersei? How many troops does she even command? I'd think she'll go down easy.
Freys will be in chaos, Lannisters have no one left at Casterly Rock, Tully's won't fight. Are there even any other major houses left that would resist?
I think Dany is going to be surprised at how easy she has it.

Aerys wife was his sister.
Rhaegar was married and had children to a non-Targaryen though.

The whole story is basically the riddle that Varys and Tyrion discussed back in the early part of season 2.
Who really holds power? Cersei has no legitimate claim to the throne, yet she now wears the crown. Jon has no legitimate claim, yet he was just declared King in the North, over his own true-born sister. Dany has the most legitimate claim of anyone, yet she is only slightly closer to the throne than she was when Robert died.
People can make all sorts of rules and laws, but ultimately, the person who sits on the throne is the person who people allow to sit on the throne.
You could go even further with this skepticism. Why does Dany have the most legitimate claim to the throne?
Because 300 years ago her ancestors conquered Westeros by force?
I totally agree with your conclusion though. Why did Robert Baratheon have a right to the throne? because the victorious armies said he did.
Why is Jon king of the North, because the biggest armies said he is.
I think the people gave Jon the power when they knelt and declared him King in the North. I doubt he carries the Snow name or the ####### tag next season.
And uhh... that "10 year old girl" has a bigger set of brass than this entire board combined!
And just another example of how good this episodes music was.
He could continue to wear the Snow name. As Tyrion said in the first season, wear it like armor.
Also, he is the white wolf now. the reverse of the original grey stark sigil. Just like Blackfish.

I agree, something or someone has to throw a wrench in her plans. Maybe Euron's 1,000 ships take a pretty good chunk of her fighting force before she even reaches Westeros.
