I voted Neutral, Don't really care about the Sven trade. Still don't really. But what I watched today I posted about. It was a weak showing for Sven. Nothing big or dramatic about it. I will admit I was a little curious to see how he would do in his first game up with VAN and really held no ill will towards him. But his play did justify why the Flames were keeping him down. He made some really bad defensive decisions today.
EDIT: And unless Sven plays against the Flames in the playoffs, this will likely be the last time I put and vested interest in seeing how Sven fares from here on out.

That's one I know for certain is not directed at the player. It's for the apologists who blame everything Calgary for the players' mediocre results.

The fact that some have taken to posting how poor he is today is what happens when same fans can't let go of a player that no longer plays for their team and other fans are sick of hearing about him.

awful is a stretch.
he had a couple good plays, a couple penalties, and a couple soft plays
I thought he was pretty much what we saw from him all year

Sven had some good shifts, some invisible and some just there. 2 penalties for taking his hand off his stick and hugging the players

wasn't this thread locked and then bumped by bingo after a pretty harmless article about baerstchi?
the thread was literally re-opened to trash the player.

Good work, double agent Baertschi. All is going according to plan...

Problem with mega-threads... I click this from time to time cause I'm interested in post-trade info or inner workings of NHL trades... it would be better to have a separate thread for "day to day updates on sven" to keep things seperate

No. The thread was opened because the guy the runs this joint posted a tangible update.
So no the thread was not "literally' re-opened to trash the player.

And immediately after it was re-opened, there were quite a few posts about his Uitica production. Non-trashing posts.

bingo implied that an "always earned, never given" culture could not possibly become a toxic situation for a player.
it was absolutely posted to trash the player.

Are you kidding me? Bingo has never trashed a player, even when he deserves it.

and? I mean, is that implication even debatable? I fail to grasp how "you have to earn it" could possibly a bad thing.

there's far more that goes into a team's culture.
if preaching it was so foolproof, it's a wonder why teams with apparently bad dressing rooms like toronto and san jose haven't figured it out.
things can go south between a player and their team for many reasons. an "always given, never earned" mantra doesn't preclude that.
