Yes, yes, but is the pizza any good?

Imagine what your own soul would taste like wood-fired with a tangy sauce and 3-cheese blend.

Not really. It's basically a Sammy's knock off with a weird, sweet tang to the sauce that throws the whole pizza off, imo.

Shout out to Mountain Bistro & Pizzeria in Bragg Creek. The service sucks (it’s two brothers running the place and it always feels like they can’t keep up) but I think it’s the best pizza I’ve had anywhere in the Calgary area.

We get take out from them pretty regularly, and it’s always great, and ready on time. Never ordered in restaurant, so can’t speak to that.

They kept the pizza exactly the same. Was impressed.

When they bought the place. They didn’t change the recipe.

Cinnamon in pizza sauce is a thing, but Paul's is the only place I've noticed it. It reminds me of Jesse adding chili powder to his meth in season 1 of Breaking Bad. It might be their "thing", but it takes away from the integrity of the meth. I mean sauce.

I have noticed it more with Greek style pizzas and pasta sauces. I like it a bit in the lasagna, but it depends on everything else going on in the sauce and on moderation of course. It should be subtle, like, “Mmm something nice in here” not “ugh this tastes like a gingerbread cookie”.

Are there good sit-down pizza restaurants in the south end of the city?
I take my family to Paul's Pizza in Shawnessy (I know, I know) and we like the pizza, but I'm looking for other options as well.

Is Shawnessy close?
Bella Roma in Lake View used to be good.
The Starlite Restaurant at Heritage and Fairmont used to have great pizza.

Their food is good, I grew up in that neighbourhood. Their pizza, lasagna and ribs are great!

PZA Parlour at Southland and Macleod has been around for a while it seems and has good reviews. Been only once and it was good. I'm not a picky pizza eater though so ymmv. But it certainly fills your requirements of being able to sit down to have pizza.

I always get the "real" chicago deep dish places mixed up. What are some of the good ones? Preferably in the south.

I’m not sure I’ve seen a real Chicago deep dish in Calgary.
