The thing is the developer Quarry Bay seems to have plans for 3 or 4 Co-op sites now, the question is can they follow through and get any of them built?

do you know if Co-Op itself is a partner in any of the developement, or just looking after updating their own stores? If they are an active partner it might help push the project along.

I don't, I'm going to put it out there to people in the development industry and see what they may know.
Hmm, doing a little googling and it looks like they may be the folks behind Live on the Park in Beltline by Central Memorial Park. That development started out with Lake Placid, who may have gone under (anyone?), and then they took it over or are Lake Placid v2.0 and built the development. There were a lot of issues with it apparently, more than usual for a highrise development.

I keep hearing rumblings that there is a big project that will may extend all the way from Jamesons to Safeway. Basically the COOP site runs right up to the University City project and that they want to do another similar project to University City, but bigger, on the other side. That would mean the whole complex from Coop to Safeway would be redone in the next 5-10 years.
That Safeway and the little mall are both old and could be replaced. But the strip mall with the Bed Bath, liquor store etc seems like it is in decent shape so I'd be surprised if they did that part. Not to mention the Jamesons was only built 5 or 10 years ago so I'd be shocked if they knocked that down already.

I think Coop is actually a partner in the project. They own all the land and I believe they intend to profit from the condos and office leases.

Hmm, are these two separate projects? on the North & South sides of Central Memorial Park.
Similar names and builders. Quite confusing.
Live The Park, on 2 St, between 12th & 13th ave, was built by Quarry & Lake Placid????

Park Point, is also on 2 St, between 12th & 11th ave. Qualex is the builder, who are behind a number of condo's.

Park Point will have 2 towers (currently being built) and has not had any issues to my knowledge. Qualex tends to be pretty straight forward.
The Park building (south side of Memorial Park) is the one I believe he was making reference to. It was a quiet project throughout and your pretty standard highrise. The upper units look impressive with huge balconies.

Apparently the Qualex project Calla at 14 Ave & 6 St had or still has "issues".

Are they going where Oxford Tower was proposed? If so that's disappointing. If they're not overlapping it they seem to be neighbors. I know Oxford won't happen any time soon but it would be nice to not wreck the potential of that site by putting up something middling.

New CPA Parkade being planned for the current surface parking lots at 9th avenue and 3rd street SE. In the range of 500-600 stalls, however this will not just be a parkade, the idea being that it will also be mixed use with retail, office, and residential components in it. It has been mentioned that it may have one or two 40 storey towers on top of it.
Great location for the core, East Village (new library right across 9th from it and the NMC barely a block), and perhaps even nice and close to the new Flames arena (site B just on the south side of 12th avenue and 4th street).

Great. That will be very useful with the new library and Music centre across the street. It will be good Saddledome parking as well especially if it gets the special $2 or $5 evening/weekend rate. I usually park on the other side of the train tracks along 10th or 11th but if the parkade is warm and cheap I'll use it.

Truman is building another development as well on 17th Ave and 29th Street SW... They're really investing heavily in that area. And unlike lots of developers in the city, they have nice designs. I love it.

I believe CMLC is running this one.
Great design team on this one, too. Should be interesting.
